I was hoping to get some input on my search for a black punch-cap shoe.

I'm torn between the C&J Westbourne (currently on sale for $419) or the Carmina Simpson (would be about $550).

Any advice form those who could help is much appreciated.

First pair of Carminas: green shell wingtips on the Rain last. I went w/ my usual 9.5UK RTW size, and they're super comfortable right out of the box.

Great shoes...in fact I just ordered the same pair in burgundy shell. Question: how long did it take to get confirmation/shipping notice after you ordered? I purchased mine 3 days ago and haven't heard a thing.

Give it a few more days. Once it does ship it only takes 1 day to get over here plus however long once it's in the country.

After sending a paypal payment to Betty 6 days ago, I never got a confirmation but got the shoes today.

edit: Got a reply from Betty. Apparently she is in NY on her iPhone.

Oh, and everything I've heard has always been 30%. That 20% you mentioned would be news to me.

This will not alleviate confusion-- but I'm also a 7.5D (AE/Alden/CJ for RL/EG/Grenson for Paul Stuart) but definitely at 7 in the Alcudia. 6.5 was way too tight. I'm a 6.5 in the Rain.

From the Epaulet X Carmina MTO on the Rain Last. These run a little narrower than the Inca last that I already have unfortunately for me.

I'm a college professor, so I don't have any workplace dress code, but I'll definitely wear them to class. The color is really subtle, so I think they'll work pretty well dressed up & w/ casual clothes.

Yeah, I emailed him before ordering to get his €.02. Fortunately, we don't live anywhere close to each other, so we won't both wear the same magic slippers to the ball.
