I don't have any experience ordering directly from Carmina, but I've ordered two pairs of shoes from Skoak and aside from the awesome service, I didn't have to pay any customs fees. That's not to say you won't, but that has been my experience. I'm in California, btw.

Carmina 80184 boot/Cognac shell/Oscar last group MTO update:

We now have FIVE firm participants and two "maybes".

The two maybes, both of whom posted their expression of interest publicly, are:

WiredAndTired
easy_golfing

Gentlemen, if either of you say "I'm in", we have six firm participants and a green light.

And/or is there someone else lurking out there?

Can you post of pic of the boot?

I ordered from Carmina directly and had to pay 18% duty plus GST. I was ready for that. What I wasn't ready for was a pair of cordo chukkas they built on the wrong last. What a disappointment and what a PITA.

I was in Madrid this week for work and went to the Carmina store there.  There was a sale!  I picked up 3 pairs of Carmina's for less than half of the retail price.  If you are near Madrid, you need to be all over this.

Can anybody proxy?

Here is the best pictures of the boot: http://gezzaseyes.tumblr.com/post/43189990833/carmina-jumper-boots-in-shell-on-the-oscar-last

The leather can sometimes be lighter and darker, here is the same boot in the same color (but a darker batch)

Thanks, will pick some up later this week!

Hmm, the navy on those shoes seem light. I think the Saphir cream may be darker than that.

I've used the Saphir navy cream and wax polish on my Carmina single monks in the same leather and I didn't think it darkened the shoes. I would have actually welcomed a little darkening but either way I've been happy with the results.

Here's a pic with the the Saphired navy monks under bright sunlight:

Here's a pic of the navy monks outdoors but out of direct sunlight (not yet worn in this pic but has Saphir cream & wax treatment):

Group Buy Update

Burnished Burgundy Austerity Brogue (Calf)
  • Simpson Last
  • Darker Sole for formal occasions
  • Darker lining
  • No Shoe Trees (although can be purchased from Skoab at extra cost)

Pending one confirmation, we have enough to set this in motion. I will put the order in Friday with Skoak. Please let me know if you are in for this. It's 2720+300sek for shipping worldwide. That's $467ish total, the paypal invoice for the 50% deposit will be about $233 USD.. for those of you in USA.

Personal note: This officially puts me at having as many MTOs going as shoes that I own (4 for 4).
