No - Simpson is a much more slim-fitting last than Rain.

Simpson and Rain are not similar. Rain is EE width, Simpson is narrower and a more chiseled toe box than Rain.

Cheers guys. I was sure that I read somewhere that Rain was like a wider version of the Simpson last. Doesn't sound like Rain would particularly work for me unfortunately.

Man was the 10UK on the green loafer available? Skoak has the wholecut but not sure it'd get that much wear from me

Yep. If one of those fits you well, the other likely won't. For me it's Rain that works. Love the sleek look of the Simpson, but it does not love my feet. Thanks for the sales link. A bit poorer now, but happy.

Anybody want to give me a quick idea of how Uetam fits as compared to Rain?

I would get the same size if your feet are semi wide since Rain is EE. So if 8.5UK in Rain then 8.5UK in Uetam. But others size down by half. Suede will give some. But others can chime in.

What he means is that probably at least half of the people from the original MTO got boots that looked less like cognac and more like saddle shell; look through the thread gallery to see what I mean.

I got lucky and ended up with the color I wanted, but I'd never do a cognac MTO again.

Here is the reply from Skoaktie:

"There are actually two different Horween Shell Cordovan Cognac colors. There is Cognac Cordovan, which was used for the Skoaktiebolaget Derby Boot Group MTO, this is quite light brown to mid-brown in colour. Then there is a shade called Dark Cognac Cordovan, this is a shade that goes from brown to dark brown in colour.

I prefer the lighter, or “normal” Cognac Cordovan myself, I think it is richer in colour and ages very nicely. But a lot of people expect Cognac Shell to be what Horween actually calls Dark Cognac.

People will have to accept quite large variations in Cordovan shades, this is the way of Cordovan."

Hope that clarifies the matter. Now here's the thing: I myself would be happy with either Cognac Shell, or Dark Cognac Shell. Once we have a quorum of participants, we could put it to a vote. But my feeling is that the lighter colour, being the one in the photos I put up in the first place, will be the one which prevails.

One caveat I would mention is in regard to loafers. I take a 9UK in the Rain last and after about a week or two of break in, it fits me excellently. I would say I have semi wide feet, but I wear a 10D in Allen Edmonds Park Ave. (snug fit) so take that how you will. Any way, I decided to take a 9UK in the Uetam loafer and it just didn't work. Because of the vamp sizing, my foot didn't reach down far enough into the toe box, and it made the fit really uncomfortable. I have a pair of 8.5UK Uetam loafers on the way to see if that remedies the problem.

dark cognac!

Last time I checked, you weren't on the list.

Didn't you get a pair from the first batch?

If we did vote for dark cognac, would you be interested?

Also, just advising that there's a 50% deposit required once we have reached our quorum. Lead time is then around 3 months.

Does anyone have any suggestions on shoe trees for the simpson last in a 7.5 UK? What have you found works best?
