I was looking for a cleaner welt, like on the Bonafes or the chukkas here. How are these constructed differently than the ones at Skoab? I thought when the welt goes vertical like that, it's a norwegian welt.. not the same as goodyear.

Thanks in advance, guys.

Is it possibly the stormwelt you're talking about?

Some double monk appreciation.  Both on Inca last.

PSA:  Skoak has just restocked a few sizes of the PTB in dark cognac shell . . .

Great looking pair of dark cognac shell. I would have purchased it if I wasn't in the process of MTO-ing a similar looking pair.

The only difference in my pair is using cognac (not dark cognac) and double sole leather, rather than dark cognac and danite sole...so just a tad different.

Does anybody have a side by side comparison to cognac and dark cognac. I'm sure it's the lightning but dark cognac looks pretty light - ligher than cognac from my attached link. How does dark cognac compare to Alden's cognac if somebody has a comparison on that as well?

They do look great. I need to warm up to PTBs because I'm missing out on some great makeups.

Dark Cognac

Light Cognac

Not side-by-side, but both pretty accurate IME.

So what's this color?

http://cdn.styleforum.net/2/2d/2d403a55_900x900px-LL-eeee5697_DSC_0229.jpeg

I was told that this is cognac, but this color seems even darker than "dark cognac" from your picture and much, much darker than your "light cognac". Is my picture not a good depiction of cognac?

I know lighting can be an issue when the picture is taken, so I want to compare it apples to apples.

Among their other virtues, they're comfortable as hell.  I'm very curious about Carmina's interpretation - I suspect it's sleeker than an Alden or AE while still maintaining that nice wide toebox - but I didn't have the patience for the restock so I did an MTO brown shell through AE instead.

Thats dark cognac when its not in natural light.  Your pic is in low-light conditions with a flash.  Also, may be a particularly dark example of dark cognac.  As you must already know, shades vary shoe to shoe.  You never know what you might get in terms of a darker example vs a lighter example.  Shoes from the same batch can even have significant variance among them.

+1. There is more variability as to shade with shell in general than with calf.
