I don't think there is a big difference but rain feels like there's more room in the instep. To be honest I don't consider rain to be a really wide fitting last, it's like Simpson but roomier in general.

I request my packages to be sent through the local mail service.
Don't order from Carmina then. I had actually asked Betty to use Correos Spain but apparently it takes forever. I'd just order from a us retailer or skoaktie.

Which is why I only take delivery by trackable post. No exceptions.

Damn. Does carmina let you choose carriers though? I thought they automatically use fed ex/dhl (both of which are terrible for customs)

That is quite interesting. In the last week I have received the Captoe 954 and the cognac shell short wing - two shipments- and paid no duty on either.

Usually with shoes I don't feel customs gets out of hand. Sure it's an additional cost but it's still less than sales tax

And in most cases price you paid was a lot less than US pricing

With DHL on English shoes I have purchased I have had to write them a check. I will look out for the bill from FEDEX that would be unwelcome. Thanks for the heads up.

Rain is not a wide fitting last at all. It is a medium-fitting last. Rain is offered in a wide fitting and even the wide fitting barely, just barely, gets to "e" (US width sizing) territory.

Maiden Voyage- Carmina Burgundy Shells Rain Last (notice one shoe's shine is different from the other- need more brushing):

That's my understanding - courier only when buying direct from Carmina.

We use EMS for shipping and we haven't had any customers say they had to pay duties so far. We can't guarantee everyone will avoid them.   EMS is fast and has reasonable rates.

Thanks RogerP.

Do you know whether Carmina does a navy shell in double monk captoe boot configuration? I like the navy double monks (Epaulet?) but prefer a boot.  I emailed Betty but still waiting.
