what are your guys thoughts on an unlined shaft?

I don't have enough knowledge to comment on the advantages/disadvantages, seems off for quite a formal boot though?

Would prefer it to be unlined until the bottom area given Cali weather and a bit more flex with the higher shaft
post #1759 of 10368
unlined shafts are fairly common with high-end boots. some examples: EG Galway, JL William Boot, G&G Arran Chukka. Would this affect sizing? just curious

Would an unlined shaft still get the 10mm or so edge inside the boot like unlined Alden's do?

I think I just answered my own question.

For those asking for comparisons between Oscar and Barrie or Simpson: I don't know, sorry.

I found these boots extremely comfortable. I like that I can lace the shaft tightly enough that it's close to my leg (but you don't have to). And I've never had a problem with lack of flexibility impinging on my ability to walk.

Just to throw it out there, any information regarding oscar last? I really like the robert last. is there any opinions on that?

I am in favor of unlies shafts. The ones from both EG & G&G are wonderful. Also, I have a Lobb cukka that is unlined and it fits and feels nice.
I need furtehr info on this MTO as I joined this thread late.

I am not familair with Carmina lasts, but anything like the C&J 348 would be great for me. I am not a fan of very rounded toes.

I think the Simpson would be closest, no?
I can put up a pair of Tetbury's on the 348 next to a pair of Simpson lasted Chelseas, if that would help any?

If you want in you are more than welcome, if we are six people we avoid the MTO fee. I you want in write in the thread so others know but please PM me so i don´t miss anyone.

The design is set and not up for discussion.

This is the details:

Fortunately, open laced boots are the easiest thing to fit. Probably ordering your Inca/Forest/Robert size in Oscar would be the way to go.
