Nice looking boot Gerry, Congrats.

Thank you!

Simple, elegant boots...congrats...wish i had more room in my cabinet for them. I have seen them on carmina's website...soller last, right? Wondering how the sizing is vis-a-vis Rain last.....any impressions?

Thanks, I really like them. Yes, they are on the Soller last. First impressions are that it fits similar to the Inca with slightly more width in the toe box than the Rain. I'll have a better idea as I wear them more.

I just got these Carmina derby boots in burgundy shell cordovan and I must say they are some of the most beautiful boots I own! More pics at http://gezzaseyes.tumblr.com/post/51866026037/ever-since-i-read-this-article-in-die-workwear-i
I read what you wrote on the blog (see below spoiler) and while those are awesome boots i dont think they are "rain" boots. The reason being is that when shell cordovan is rained on it develops a lot of weird spots which is a reaction of the leather. The spots go away after time and shoes are not damaged but i dont think i would buy shell boots for the rain. Just my 2c.
"Ever since I read this article in Die Workwear!, I had been after a pair of rainy day boots similar to the pair made by Crockett and Jones for Peal and Co. for Brooks Brothers, I finally took the plunge with this pair from Carmina in burgundy shell cordovan and I’m really happy with them. They are one of the most beautiful pairs of shoes that I own and a perfect complement to my Lindrick boots. The boots are made on the Soller last, a slightly wider boot last from Carmina that suits my feet very well and feature a Victory sole by Dainite which is great for the wetter weather.I’m lucky to have these."

Alden leather defender or saphir spray and just a bit of brushing. Cordovan shouldn't be babied and his boot looks perfect for rain with the sole

true, however saphir in my experience has not removed the dots left over by rain. i never tried the leather defender
