I've read that's a no go. Not sure why. It'd still be a better idea to have it all in one place to browse through than just having a thread for each one. Think if there was no marketplace and people just made new threads in any of the other subforums. Ick

I echo this idea by like a million. Its so hard to keep track what MTO is going on where and with who and styling. I wish there could be a Carmina MTO thread with every idea that people want to make and create a subthread for each style. I mean how many different Carmina MTO's are available from different retailers? I think I can count atleast 4. Kinda hard to keep it all straight and I know where I prefer one retailer over another.

I think it's a matter of clutter. A thread for every individual MTO will require constant bumping to get attention and members to reach whatever magical number.

If it is to exist in style forum, it'd live outside of the actual forum like the reviews. Have the lead of the mto post the info, list the status if its open or it's been completed. A wiki would do in a pinch.

I´ve just started The official Carmina MTO thread! All info on this MTO will be posted in that thread.

My original post is there, feel free to post things i might have forgotten.

Oooops :embar:
The MTO thread got deleted "because it infringes on the privileges of our paying sponsors". You learn something every day :)

Got a email from Skoaktiebolaget and they told me they sent a group PM to those who signed up earlier. If you didn´t get it PM me and i´ll forward it.

This is what happened to the previous thread, there were only two retailers with Carmina on forum back then I think

Too bad LA doesn't like the idea :-(

Even thinking about it more.. there was a groupbuy for a Tom Ford tie I remember. Some other ties, jackets, tons of stuff. Not only that, it would give retailers a great sense of where the common tastes are and what they could stock. It doesn't have to be just for shoes but any group MTOs.

Oh well, eh?

As a retailer and affiliate vendor we are also hoping something can be organized for Carmina MTOs.
There are ideas we have for MTOs but I don't want to clutter up the Carmina thread by posting every detail. With so many bright people involved with Styleforum I am sure something will be worked out.

I picked up a pair of these as well. They turned out great and Mr. Yoo couldn't have made the transaction easier and helped me swap sizes no sweat. Can't wait to get another pair.

Couldn't agree more. Mr Yoo has been fantastic with my order too. In fact, I've ordered a pair of the burgundy captoes also!

Just out of interest, did you end up sizing down 0.5 of a size compared to normal? I ordered a 7 UK, the same size I've worn in every other shoe I have, but they were too big in the Rain last and I'm now awaiting a 6.5... Let's hope it fits!

Were the burgundy captoes MTO? Or part of Mr. Yoo's stock offering? Thank you.

Having a way to post, "We're thinking of THIS MTO on THIS last, through THIS vendor. If you want in, click (whatever voting box for yes, mabye if we changed xx) and we can keep the thread updated.." would be way better than interrupting a thread meant for a different purpose. IMO if this thread is OK for MTO talk, it should be labeled, "All things Carmina." \

Even if all vendors and makers are in one area, it's still easier to keep track and scroll through a list of MTOs to see what you're interested in. I don't have time to go through the G&G, Meermin, Carmina and Epaulet threads to see what MTO's are there. I've personally missed out on a few that I wish I didn't, both G&G and Epaulet's Carmina MTO orders.

But that's just me.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Right?

Wait, I think there's a solid argument that it's broken. lol.

You only have a good chance of knowing your MTO's and all the options if you can spend 3hrs a day looking at the forums. I spend most of the time here on my cell. Oh well.

I think, in all this bitching about how MTO talks interrupt the thread, we derailed the sonofabitch. It's a nice thought but sounds like it may never happen. Let's get back to some beauty.

And sign up for my MTO. All of you.

Has anyone bought Carmina from The Shoe Mart? They sent an email this morning which advertised that you could get 12% off any of their Carmina shoes, so I clicked through and tried to add a pair to my cart, but there was no discount applied. Then about an hour later, they sent a second email which had a code you needed to use to get the 12% off, but Carmina wasn't included this time. I tried the code on a pair anyway but it didn't seem to work. I'm guessing it was probably a mistake on their part to include Carmina in the first place. Too bad, because it's pretty much impossible to find a sale on any Carmina...

Actually, if the biggest issue is missed MTOs, we could solve that fairly easily by setting up something outside of SF. Not a separate forum or anything like that, but an email list or RSS feed that we could subscribe to.

The email list would probably be the easiest. It wouldn't have to be formal; just a "Hey, skoak has a new MTO of [x] on [last] in [leather], with deposits due by [date]. Link is in the skoak thread," since the point isn't to actually sell the product, but inform other users of its existence.

It wouldn't have to be more frequent than once every two weeks at most, which is about the time between a MTO deposit going up and the deposit window closing.

Like AE and Alden, I'm sure Carmina is excluded from all promotions The Shoe Mart offers. However, I could be wrong. Let us know if you find one that works!

I purchased a pair of Carmina's from TSM a few months back. I like TSM, just wish they had a larger selection of Carmina's to choose from. I have never seen one of their promo's that applied to Carmina but I always take a look just in case...

Does anyone know if there is a US source for Carmina shoe trees at this time? I know they are available from the Carmina site, but I'm not planning any purchases in the near future and the shipping costs for the trees alone would be prohibitive

The only source that I know of is Epaulet but they are $95. If you order more than 1 set it's cheaper from Carmina.
