Agreed. I'm sure most makers would use a thin midsole in this situation. Gluing a rubber danite sole directly to the exposed cork footbed/welt wouldn't be as secure as with a thin midsole. This is purely speculation but I think it makes sense due to The uniformity of the exposed area. Throw some edge dressing on it and youre good to go!

My wingtip Danite sole has a thin mid sole, so that would be likely the case.

I'm a 7UK in Inca, Uetam, and Detroit. And 7.5UK in Simpson.

I know most people say take the same size for both Simpson and Uetam, but Uetam 7.5UK gives me heel slippage, and I couldn't even fit my foot into a Simpson 7UK. Granted, the Simpson I tried was a pair of Oxfords so the fit may vary a bit.

Thank you both. I think I will order 2 and send one back as shipping is not that expensive within Europe.

Stopped in at Leatherfoot Emporium a week or so ago while visiting Toronto. Allan had graciously put aside a pair of cognac shell monks for me in advance of my trip (a couple months away at that point). I have enough Carmina's in my closet to have been comfortable purchasing with outing trying them but it served as a good reason to pay a visit. Not only did I have an enjoyable visit to the shop but had the added bonus of meeting one of our SF legends while there.

Either wsy...I just got these in the other day (I had them shipped as our Luggage was full) and am looking forward to putting them to some good use.

^^^ Those are beauties my man - glad you were able to find a few nice souvenirs of your visit to our fair city.  Lighter colored shell is getting sooooo hard to find.  Wear them well.

Gotta say, the brown penny loafers turned out AWESOME!  I'll get some proper pics up soon.  Thanks again for making it happy Steve!

As requested by a PM, but would have shared it anyway :) here are my other pickups during our Mallorca holiday. Still waiting for the Norwegian Cordovan to arrive as well

Obviously, Norwegian in Forest on the left. Top right one is on the Randa Last, Antilope and its color is a somewhat weird mix of black and dark blue. On the bottom right is a Loafer on the Simpson Last which I got on a German Forum, its color is amazing.

On the side note, how are you guys wearing Loafers without socks? Does it take more time and "pain" to get used to it? Taking them on is often times already very tough especially when it is very hot outside. Also the leather rubs my feet quite a bit, regardless of which last.

You don't wear loafers without socks. Buy some of these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01D2PD6E6/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Or something similar.

Jesus, never knew those are available for men 😯 Already put two Loafers on eBay figuring I won't be able to wear them, obviously taking them off now 👌

Are there any brands for those socks, such as Bresciani, anyone could recommend? I just found out Falke offers them, but their quality is really bad nowadays.

not worth spending too much for no show socks IMO. Look for socks with grippy material at the inside of the heel (facing your skin), which helps prevent the sock from rolling off your foot when you walk. I have a few pairs from Uniqlo and they do the job fine.

I get the Jcrew loafer socks and they do a pretty good job. They have the rubber on the heel and at 7 bucks during a sale they're a steal.

Smartwool does merino ones that are the best I've found.  I don't think they have a hand-linked toe, though.
