Hey folks - GYW over on reddit are putting together a GMTO recommendation for Carmina via blind poll.  Check it out here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/goodyearwelt/comments/4ktwi7/carmina_x_gyw_round_2_gmto_official_makeup/

I imagine this is fair game to post - please let me know otherwise.

Biggest news to me: new cordovan colors and Buger may be wide open to GMTOs.

Whats up with these "new" shades?

They simply look like reiterations of the "old" shades.

Bourbon looks a tad darker than whiskey.

Armagnac looks like a lighter cognac.

What other new shades?

They are two new Horween colors, according to Jaime at Carmina. Horween has previously explained that Bourbon is just Whiskey that has not been selected for clarity (i.e., there may be more variation within the color). I assume, therefore, that Armagnac is Cognac that has not been selected for clarity.

This is not good for my wallet....

I just kopped a pair of the darker cognac that you showcased yesterday because of your pics...

Here is a recent shot of the difference between old and new Carmina Cognac:

Obviously, old on the left and new on the right.

This is actually the first time I can say that I prefer the darker cordovan shade.

Beautiful and unique!

Interesting. I'm glad I got a pair in the old cognac before they changed over. The new version is a nice shade of red brown but doesn't say cognac to me.

Loving my CXL boots from @steveyoo1983! This is my first boot with CXL leather and it's really neat icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

watchman1 - thx for the sizing advice.  seems 1/2 down from Barrie is the general consensus.  I'm in Houston...but there does not seem to be a Carmina dealer here.

what about the SF user called "Notch"?  in the B&S section he has access to a number of styles and sizes - any feedback on this gentleman?

thx,

moondog-sparky

thx, Bakes!  1/2 down seems to do the trick.  thx everyone for helping out a Carmina newbie...

I have to agree with you here. I prefer the older cognac for the same reasons you mentioned.

Gentlemen,

I totally understand your sentiments.

However, you have to understand where I am with this.  Here is some shots of my current Carmina Cognac Cordovans that are in my rotation:

As you can see, I need to diversify my portfolio.

Thanks.

Watch,

Are you sure that top captoe boot is cognac? Looks like saddle shell or very light whiskey (whatever Carmina calls that nowadays)
