Carmina Shoes - Official Thread (reviews, advice, sizing, etc...) - Page 1183

You could always start looking at makers who source shell other than Horween. That will yield some other color options.

Ron rider sometimes is able to get his mitts on very rare Horween shell also, like gunmetal, color 4, or grain shell.

Dr. Pepper,

I knew I liked you for a reason...you just solved my conundrum!

Here are my personal cordovan grails:

Misc Alden's in Ravello
Carmina Ruby Boot
Carmina Navy Wholecut Oxford
Perhaps another in Enzo in color 4

And after that....I don't know....

The thought that there is a place with shell cordovan whereby I have exhausted all the resources brings a certain sense of accomplishment along with some feelings of despondency.  Despondent because I don't know what else to collect...

At that point, I will be forced into calfskin...

Well there's always lizard, croc, ray reindeer, and a few others...but I'd take calf over most of those options (I do like the Russian reindeer)

Carmina has Russian deer? Lizard & crock would be sweet

@Watchman1 do you have any green shell? Either from Carmina or Rancourt? Carmina makes a dead sexy green shell shortwing.

I think they're going to be stocking the Horween hatch grain, which is a replica of Russian reindeer leather. They've got so many cool leathers coming up, including a nubuck football grain.

And there's always suede. smile.gif

I have actually had the opportunity to get some Loden Cordovan or whatever...Green.

And, it has never really done anything for me.

Everything else is great though.

I really liked the "bottle green" color AE used during the exotic trunk shows. I couldn't afford more than one MTO at the time, though, sadly.

mostly a lurker here on SF...carmina and alden threads.

very interested in carmina NST in cognac cordovan.  i'm a solid 7D US barrie last - is the general consensus to go down .5 size for the carmina forest last?  do i need to go to an E width for the forest, given that it narrows at the toe?

all feedback greatly appreciated.  given the shortage of exotic cordovan from alden and the brutal game you have to play to chase it, i'm looking for new options....

Hey folks - GYW over on reddit are putting together a GMTO recommendation for Carmina via blind poll.  Check it out here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/goodyearwelt/comments/4ktwi7/carmina_x_gyw_round_2_gmto_official_makeup/

I imagine this is fair game to post - please let me know otherwise.

Biggest news to me: new cordovan colors and Buger may be wide open to GMTOs.

Whats up Dog?

Others may not agree with me, but I have found great satisfaction wearing Carmina Cordovan Shoes and Boots.

In general, Carmina are more formal than Alden.  Carmina lasts and designs are inherently dressy.

The Cognac Cordovan NST is a classic model and Carmina does an excellent job with them IMO.

I would recommend that you start .5 size down from Barrie.

Are you near a Carmina store?

7D US Barrie should generally mean 6.5UK Forrest
