These end up in rotation pretty frequently lately!

Thinking about pulling the trigger on these:

Anybody have any thoughts they could share if they have received something similar in the past?

^ I think those look very well executed. Id be on that if I didn't already have something very similar.

Haven't you heard? Chicks dig hairy ankles. Come on man!

I agree loafers with socks isn't really my thing either. Loafers are a tricky fit as it is, and I've yet to discover a RTW last that fits my feet perfectly, so I need to skin-to-leather contact for extra grip.

Look on the last page, I'm wearing the same thing but the full-strap model.

I was considering jumping in on the Carmina Cordovan Chukka Boots 708 Detroit in Burgundy Color #8 listed on their "MTO" page.  The pictures look awesome but was reading the details and it says "punched patterns on the toe".  Does anyone know if this means there will be a punched design on the toe of this boot (like a medallion) or will it be plain just like the pictures they show here:  http://www.carminashoemaker.us/mto-groups-1224/cordovan-color-8-chukka-boots ?

I sent them an email but since the MTO is closing in just over 1 day and am not sure if they will get back to me in time.  Hopefully it will be plain...

Cognac LWB - this is the "new" shade. These are a bit snug (I went 1 size down from Barrie as is recommended by many, but I may end up selling these), but I'll give them a few wears (so far they are feeling pretty good after a few hours of wear, though). I like the color and the sole.

That shade is off the hook.  Beautiful.

Also, that last is incredible as well.

Good job on those.

I would not have recommended 1 full size down from Barrie.

After owning many Barrie lasts and several Detroit lasts, all in cordovan, I would have gone with the traditional sizing advice of 1 full size down from US, and/or .5 from Barrie.

Thanks.

Thanks very much. These are indeed on Detroit. A few people recommend going down .5 from Barrie (US 8D), but most recommendations (here and on reddit/gyw) I saw suggested to go down 1 from Barrie. Also, .5 down from Barrie was out of stock, so I figured to give these a shot at 7 UK, since these were in stock.

So far they are feeling more comfortable as the day wears on. We'll see.

I went .5 down from Barrie to 7.5 UK in Rain and Inca and both were not great for different reasons (Rain heel was too wide, Inca vamp was too snug), and I wear TTS (8 UK) in Simpson. I will probably stick with 7.5 UK for the other Carmina lasts I try (except Alcudia, which I would go to 8 UK for as well I think).

Any advice on how Oscar, Soller, and Forest would fit? I'm guessing 7.5 UK would be fine in all of them but you never know with Carmina...

JS01 I take same size as my rain last for forest last shoe.

If Rain and Inca were not ideal, and Detroit seems ok 1.5 size down...then Oscar should be a perfect last for you if I had to guess.  It has a tighter heel and less girth at the ball of foot than the others.  And Forest will fit similar to Oscar.  TTS for sure.

Soller is by far the largest Carmina last.  I have no experience with it.  But many others do.

@RogerP should be able to tell you more.

I will say, for the record, that Carmina builds an incredible shoe for the money.  And considering that lots of rare cordovan shades are available from them when those same kind of shades are nonexistent from other makers makes Carmina all the more appealing.

Thanks.

Carmina got back to me and confirmed this was a misprint.  The chukka boot will be exactly as pictured on their website with no punched design on the toe.  I checked the listing on their website and they have removed the incorrect wording from the description as well.
