Hello,

I was hoping for some sizing advice on the Simpson last. I measure 10b on the brannock. I can wear a 10b or 9.5c on Allen Edmonds 5 last. Maybe a 8.5 or 9 on Simpson? Not many options for a narrow foot and I might just try a MTO of Jfitzpatricks (he offers a narrow width for MTO). Also any narrow width brand suggestions other than Allen Edmonds and Alden would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Thank you,

my guess is 9UK simpson. It is a narrow last. I am sure others will give advice as well.

The quality of the work is due, in part, to my cobbler.  He is a master.  4th generation, big Swedish chap, with hands like meat cleavers.

The only downside is that he gets a little frustrated with me because I do not buy the shoes he stocks in his shop.  Tauer and Johnson is the brand.  They are ok...just ok...

Probably a little more info than needed.  Hope this all helps.

Yes, thanks.  It was mostly idle currosity.  Maybe the retailer from whom you bought requested they arrive with double leather rather than the stock Dainite.  Great looking shoes.  I wore mine yesterday.

Which, again, I'm appreciate anyone's sizing advice.

The 532's (LWB) on the Detroit fit me fine in 9.5, despite my high instep and that being a full size down (I suppose) from my normal US 10.5E.

If I get an oxford in the Rain last, should I move up to a 10.0 or stick with the same size as my 9.5 blucher?

Good question.  I found the Detroit to only be slightly more roomy than Rain.  Mostly in length.  It would be advantageous to try both sizes on before buying.

Hope this helps.

Rain seems such a drastically different shape from Detroit IMO, so I would take others' sizing advice with the requisite grain of a condiment of your choice. Detroit might not be much larger than Rain in the ball or heel, but the toebox is radically different. Depending on how splayed out or in your toes are (mine splay out), you may need a larger size for Rain. I sized the same for both and wish I'd gone up .5 for Rain. But as always, YMMV

You are very right I take 8uk for Detroit & 8.5uk for rain.

I've been given the opportunity to return them, but given the beauty of these boots and the current high MTO price ($1245) I thought I would briefly make them available here at a good price before sending them back to Carmina on Monday.

I don't mean to intrude in the thread with a classified, but thought this might be a good deal for someone in the market.

What is the size and last?

What were the sizing issues? Too big or too small? My wife is in that range.

Thank you,

I wear a 12 C on the 5 last and wear a Simpson in an 11 UK. The Simpson is an exponentially better fit.

SImpson is narrow and has a low instep, so if you have both, you'll be golden. I find it fits very similarly to a TG73, which is not really in the same stratosphere, but it's more readily available, so perhaps you can try that on in person.

....and I wear Simpson and Detroit in 10, and would fall out of a Rain 10. I've tried on a Rain 9.5, and that would be what I would buy if I were to go with Rain.
