Carmina Shoes - Official Thread (reviews, advice, sizing, etc...) - Page 1101

@GuidoTheKillerPimp  also worth mentioning, the color of Carmina's blue suede looks a little different IRL than the pic you posted.

Guys, can I get some advice on sizing? I'm quite new to the world of proper dress shoes, so thus far I only have two shoes for comparison...

1. Loake 1880 Cornwall in Duke last (7.5UK) - this fits well, no tightness at all, maybe just slightly roomy, but is comfortable. It being a derby could explain the looser fit though?

2. Meermin Classic Line Suede Oxfords in Hiro last (7.5UK) - it takes some effort to put my feet into the shoes (especially the first few times), but once they are in, it feels snug and comfortable. Laces close up just nice.

What size should I get on the Rain and Inca lasts? I'm looking at one of these...

Thanks!

What return address have you used if needed to return to Carmina directly? Their website says to return to the address mentioned on the invoice or delivery note but they have two different addresses printed on them....

Address on digit invoice received by e-mail:

ALTA ZAPATERIA BALEAR, S.L.
Ctra. Palma - Alcudia, Km 30,300
07300 - Inca
Mallorca - España

Address printed on paper delivery note that came with the boots:

ALTA ZAPATERIA BALEAR, S.L.
Calle Berenguer d'Anoia, 60 - 2˚
07300 - Inca
Mallorca - España

Which boots/size?

I used the first one.

I use Saphir bordeaux wax for my shell jumper boots. It's available at the Hanger Project.

What size would you recommend for the rain last (non-loafer).

I have both Uetam suede loafers and Hiro double monks as well as Inca oxfords and Rain oxford boots. All of them are in the same size, 10.5 UK.

The loafers are definitely the most snug fitting, but they're comfortable. Half a size up would've caused heel slippage for me. Of the four lasts mentioned, Inca is probably my favorite and best fitting.

In one of my previous posts I mentionned that the fitting of the Buger is similar to Inca; do you or any other fellow gentleman know how does Inca fit in respect to Simpson and Rain?

Carmina posted a new picture on Instagram, looks stunning and their description seems to indicate something not to far from the rain last. Carmina's description on the webpage to me is really strange....

Wonder if Carmina are opening up a somewhat new segment given the higher pricing pricing and better quality sole that they otherwise only have on their cordovan offerings

I thought I remembered hearing something a while back about the Buger being described as Rain aesthetic but with a fit that accommodates those with less extreme foot proportions.  However, when I went back to find whatever it was that I am thinking about, I came up with nothing.  Maybe it was posted in the Proper Kit thread.  I didn't look there...

Is anybody having lots of squeaking with their Polo Wingtip GMTO? Forgive the terminology, but I believe it is from the tongue rubbing inside the shaft. It happens while walking. I'm not sure if there's a solution.

Remember exactly the same thing, same challenge with figuring out where

If that statement is true I'm all for the new last. I'm one of those finding rain to wide in the heel and somewhat lower instep would not hurt

Thanks. How do the Rain and Inca lasts compare to Hiro, in terms of toe box and waist width? The Hiro is already snug for me, so if Rain or Inca is narrower at either the toe or waist then it would probably be too tight for me...

My Meermins squeak as well, I think it was from the friction between the socks and leather lining. I put some talc powder into the shoe, spread it around, and the squeaking went away immediately. Your socks and shoes will look a little white the first time but the visibility of the powder disappears really quickly.

I emailed Betty a few days ago and she replied that the loafer on the right is black suede. It looks like a dark royal blue to me.

This looks blue to me, not even dark navy or something close to black, genuinely surprised. Must be the lighting.
I take it the middle one is black as well?
