If you have the patience to wait it out another 2 months, SkoaB will be stocking this model in brown, Rain last.

This will be a better option for you I think.

I have a sizing question for the ladies. I'd love to get my wife a gift of the red cordovan boots at the Carmino MTO page, but I am unsure of the sizing. Standard sizing chart says to go -2.5 from US to get the UK size, so in my wife's case that would be 7US-->4.5UK.

Does anyone have experience ordering women's footwear from Carmina? Does this -2.5 size conversion reflect your experience with Carmina?

FYI, here's the boot:

4.5 sounds right.

My gf is 37 EU 6.5 US and takes 4UK. She has high arches and slightly wife foot.

My friend's experience was -2 sizes down from US sizes. I think @tifosi bought some Jodhpurs for his wife and said they had to return the -2.5 size down for a 2 size down.

@MBoxer. Yes, I did recently get some Jodhpurs for my wife who is a 7.5US. We tried the 5UK and it didn't work. The 5.5UK fits much better.

I'm not sure if Carmina has different lasts for the women, but for the boots we got -2 from US worked much better.

Hmmm. That sounds like one 'yes' and one 'no'.

@tifosi, what was it about the -2.5 that had you return it? Instep? Pinched toes? I appreciate the help!

The were just that little bot too short. The ball of her foot was past the widest part of the boot and you could see her little toe bulging out the side. The 1/2 size up really placed her foot well in the boot.

Can anyone comment on their recent experience with Carmina's "cognac" cordovan color? It seems that the color is very inconsistent depending on the shoe make up and/or vendor. Some cognac shoes appear very light while others are moderate to dark brown, and some have tints of red.

I'm very interested in having a shell cordovan Oscar last PTB made in a brown/dark brown color, but am hesitant given the apparent inconsistencies in color.

Mine is definitely reddish. I would say it's halfway between ravello and unfinished color 8.

Your confusion is the result of the fact that they have two, if not three or four, distinct shades of cognac that they work with. Dark cognac is the deeper brown, often with red undertones (although in the past it had almost a greenish hue sometimes). They also have normal cognac, which is a little more orangeish.

Then you get into the more confusing bits- I've heard them use "saddle shell" and "light cognac" to refer to the same leather before, which looks something like this.

Finally, they have natural shell, which can be very hard to tell apart from saddle/light cognac depending on lighting and patina.

It's not so much inconsistent color as it is inconsistent nomenclature, in my experience. I hope that helps. If you're having an MTO done you can exchange photos of what you want with Jaime or Betty or whomever you're coordinating, which should help them help you.

That would be the Oscar last. I've found it fits somewhere in between Detroit and Rain. I am 7UK Detroit, 7.5E Barrie, and 7.5UK Oscar and Soller. I've found that the toebox has a little less vertical room than it looks like it does based on the slight bulbousness of it, but it's pretty accommodating width-wise.

Shell cordovan is inherently inconsistent in terms of shade.  No matter how specific your request, there is still risk involved.  It's best to either accept the possibility that you won't get exactly the shade that you imagined, or abstain.

Over the years I've seen a lot of folks disappointed over inconsistencies in the color of shoes that they spent a lot of money on.  Retailers and manufacturers generally respond to such grievances with a "that's just the way it is" attitude.

Proceed with caution.
