Potentially could get my first Carmina boot in 8.5uk forest last. I'm a 43 9uk in every Allen Edmonds. 9.5 Barrie last.

Have put a wtb ad for some carminas and got a bite from someone selling 8.5k forest last. They say the toe is generous. Would this be ok for someone who wears a 9.5 USA Barrie last?

I'm 10E on AE 65 last and standard width Forrest in size 9 UK fits spot on. Forrest to me is a bit tighter all around the forefoot but that's expected given that its a bit sleeker. Note though that Forrest imo is not very forgiving for getting the size wrong.

Oscar and Soller har far more room to play with. Specially on a Cordovan derby boot where you can adjust lacing quite a lot.

Thanks, yes I love them! Although I'm patiently hoping the dainite stubs will wear down a bit soon.

Also got some good news from Jaime: looks like my navy shell LWB GMTO squeaked in under the wire and is currently in production! I was worried we wouldn't get enough orders, but we got 8 in the end (6 were needed).

Between those and two imminent drops from my good buddy Steve at GF, it's going to be a very Carmina January for me. smile.gif

^^^ Cool beans.  I have some grain boots due in from Steve soon and have the burgundy CXL jumpers from Skoak as a recent arrival, so it's a happy Carmina new year for me too. :fistbump:

Congratulations!!! I got the feeling it would never happen since it was listed  for so long time online.

That LWB GMTO  didn't quite get me going in the same ways as the TPB's though so i passed on that one. I'm now waiting on their natural shell PTB (Carmina's own GMTO) ordered earlier in dec.

Any idea if they have been able to secure some new shell for new rounds of nice designs? Would die for a dark cognac wingtip boot on oscar with danite sole

Hey guys,

I'm very new to Carmina. Most of my shoes have been EG, C&J and Church so far.

I'm quite interested in buying these though http://www.carminashoemaker.com/mto-finished-2198/double-buckle-cordovan-burgundy-80250

Anyone tried these on before? anything I should know? Do they fit large/small or to size?

Also, any general advice on the diff between Carmina and the shoes I'm used to?

Thanks guys!

Those shoes have something of 50% upcharge from their regular price. The price of this shoe during the MTO period was something around $670 if my memory serves correctly, which was also before the price increase. It's probable that Carmina does not have this shoe in stock, and will have to make it for you. Could take ~2 months.

For what it's worth I take same size as my EG E width for carmina rain & inca last. Just go one full size down fron your US sizing.

Second that. I am a normal 7.5us and wear a 6.5uk on Inca last of which I have four pair.

What do you guys think of a Rain last? Is it pointy in person? Thinking about ordering a dm on the R, though not sure how chiseled it is irl. John Lobb William last is a style I am comparing all the good monks with ..

Rain looks pretty much exactly like what you see in the bazillion photos of it here and elsewhere on the web.  It won't look suddenly different when you open the box.  If you think it's too pointy in the pics, then it's too pointy for you, end of story.  Whether someone else thinks it is or isn't too pointy doesn't matter much.  If you'd rather have a round toed last, Rain isn't for you.  Go for Forest, Robert or Inca etc.

I have gotten my Inca 80250 burgundy cordovan before the price adjustment.

Here seen with the Simpson Rubi Shell as comparison.

I have these in cognac. Took the same size as my EG 202 last. They're great, although, just IMO, a bit pointy.

Hi Nikola, if you compare Rain to 9795 last, the former is more chiseled and the toe cap tapers before. I would not say they are close in shape.  Wait and get your loved JL WII (should they continue to exist).:satisfied:
