Plenty of sizes left, too. I guess there's a question of how versatile they'll be, but I predict I'll be looking for any excuse to wear them!

This pair is so damn cool you build the outfit from the shoes up!

My first Carminas came direct as well and I saw those Green shell. I love the color but it's kind of a conflict of a shoe to me. I wouldn't wear them formally due to the color. But they are not an informal/casual shoe imo due to the design. I'm not knocking it, I just don't know how I would work it into a look personally. Please do post up pictures when you can though, they truly are gorgeous.

I hear you. If they were, for example, captoe bals, they would be two worlds colliding. But as SWBs, IMO . . .

* khakis - yes, definitely
* nice denim - I think so (but I'm kind of "out there" that way)
* summer suits (e.g., seersucker) - yes

That's enough versatility right there to make them work for me!

I'd absolutely rock these with a pale grey summer suit.

they'll take shell/exotic mtos and add a 35% surcharge. i didn't ask what the bottom line would be but it's prob somewhere near 1k. the effective surcharge on the calf is 10% ($550 base price).

Armoury just made a believer outta me. they got done what no one else could

What's that?

I was going to stop in on my way home from work, but they didn't respond to my email and I didn't want to go out of my way to get there for nothing. They must have not really needed my sale.

So it was definitely 35% up-charge for shell MTO? (not that I doubted feyy, I ultimately took his word for it and didn't bother making the trip)

Probably would have done a shell boot for under $1K, but I don't want it bad enough to pay over $1K.

10% MTO up-charge would probably have gotten it done. 35% up-charge is a deal-breaker.

with the growing shortage of shell, i'm convinced an upcharge for it will become the norm before too much longer making a < $ 1k boot of any quality rare
there was an upcharge but honestly, the final price was $100 over quotes I've gotten from others > $ 1k so with the hides reserved I went for it.

Half N Half: once you learn the secret, it makes it hard to opt for AE shell instead of Carmina when they are the same price. I've never paid customs when shipped DHL, but always get hit by FedEx. Customs has been $25 on a $400 purchase the few times I've been hit in the last year.

So your saying it was $1,000+ for Black shell shoes?

I understand your logic, but what I had in mind are just not worth that much to me.

The MTO surcharge is usually 50% (at least this is what Carmina usually charges us retailers) so 35% is actually a good deal.
