Roger I cant thank you enough for those amazing pictures! thank you again!

As another canadian customer of Steve's, just wanted to echo the sentiment. He's the best I've dealt with, no question.
Cheers! and thank you for your kind words!!

Nice one; will be a happy owner in a few months when the second GMTO 973 boots arrive.
Didn't even know those cognac boots existed and now I need them. Great shoes, Roger!

Yes! We have few of those cognac shell 973 boots avail now on our webstore :)

We are also running a second round of cognac shell 973 boots (Only difference this time will be the lining color which will be red, and the cap toe will be a clean single stitch rather than the perforated borgue) We have required 6 already and trying to place the order as soon as possible due to limited stock of shell cordovans :)

Oh and Cognac shell PTB (Detroit last) MTO will close tomorrow so let me know if you would like to join!

wow!

Is this what cognac actually looks like? I asked about the cognac color earlier, but they didnt look like this. Is it a really flattering lighting angle or what?

or should I start to get excited over my cognac monks?

It looks like dark cognac. Carmina offers saddle, cognac (mid brow), and (dark) cognac which is usually a batch of cognac that was tanned darker than normal.

There's probably some batch-to-batch variation. I know I have seen cognac shell - at least in pics - that looks a bit darker than this. Also, I have seen some Carmina shoes described as 'Dark Cognac' - so it may be that there are two distinct variations. I was very pleased when I opened the box and saw this very rich, warm shade.

I take pretty much all my shoe pics in this spot, and in the late afternoon - there is plenty of ambient light, but they are out of direct sunlight. It's flattering in the sense that I think it shows colours and details very well - like capturing the subtle variations in shade in museum calf, for example. But this isn't a photoshop effect - that's how the shoes look.

I'll be up at LeatherFoot later today and I know they have a cognac shell pair in stock - I'll give them a close look to see how they compare.

Edit - I see Joshua beat me to it.

Got my first pair of real shoes for the first time in my life, but couldn't find a patch of sunlight since last week to take some nice pictures in... Breaking my feet in is torture, but the shoes are breaking in nicely.

^ Beautiful shoes. You did an excellent job in making a first choice. When the addiction hits, don't go too crazy and grab up everything you see -- take your time and build up a collection that makes sense for you. That said, I highly recommend you pick a second pair soon so that you can rotate your shoes and extend the life of that pair.

Thanks! Yes, they're in the Rain last since I have really wide feet.

I haven't worn them outside yet since the pavement is still pretty wet, but I'm also scared of scuffing them since I'm used to wearing cheap sneakers everywhere...
