Im just curious. When you wear the pythons, do you get any comment or looks?

actually, the first time i wore them (friend's birthday party), no one even noticed them or mentioned anything. last night, a couple friends commented before dinner, but i had already told them i was going to wear them.

i think they look pretty normal from far away. you can't really see the texture/color of the python skin until you look from closer.

New run of Cognac Cordovan for SF PT boot:


There are great variations in shades for different batches of Horween Cordovan. We all know this.

my version came in today & i wanted to say the above pic is CLOSE to the shading IRL but not as
'orange' as the picture. in daylight they are browner and absolutely do represent cognac well.
personally, i don't think anyone should worry too much about them being more tan unless the
expectation was a truly dark version of cognac. the lighting in this pic alone is throwing the shade off a little.

I am sure after a few coats of Saphir's dark brown cordovan cream that will darken it up well.

^ Is the cream you're referencing the same as the Saphir creme available from Leffot? I don't remember seeing anything specifically about cordovan in the item description, so I'm not certain.

Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for; I guess Leffot just doesn't stock the cordovan creme.

Heh, good catch. If I recall correctly from one of my vocabulary hunts, "austerity" means "plainness or simplicity in appearance or style."

I would hesitate before attempting to darken shell using a pigmented cream. I don't think it would work very well. My pair of saddle shell boots has darkened over the course of a year, but it will never be dark brown.

I was at Skoaktiebolaget today and the store manager showed me a MTO boot another customer did, but with shell from the same batch.

They looked great and not as light as you might think from the pics. Lighter than Nick Horweens boot but far darker than sadle shell.

I received my MTO boots yesterday. They're beautiful but not what I had in mind when I joined the MTO. I would have been happier if Carmina had just said that they couldn't source cognac shell that matched the reference photo.

Here are some photos, which I think are pretty accurate in terms of color. The comparison boots are Carmina x Epaulet brown CXL.

Why they made such uneven seam? Does it refer to the "handmade" or it's a standard for Carmina nowadays?
Would be nice if they have a better quality control, boots are not cheap.

Other than that it's a good looking boots.

I picked mine up today as well and I have to agree with you, they're not what I had in mind. They fit well but are essentially a double of my Coniston boot albeit in shell instead of scotchgrain. I would have been happier if we had been told from the beginning that the shell to be used was going to be lighter than the reference picture.

I am disappointed with the colour and let me explain why:

The box may be labelled Cognac but the boots appear far closer in colour to the saddle shell than to the darker shell used for the Lindrick which is what I (and it seems a number of us) were expecting. This is the picture of the reference boot supplied as the basis of this MTO:
