SteveO . . . . help me with the Rain fit please sir - having a hard time talking muhself out of these

For me, I have a semi wide foot and wear 5.5 UK Rain. They are bit snug for me at first but stretches out nicely.
I can fit into 5.5 in Simpson as well but they are bit too tight for me so I half size up on Simpson to 6.

One of my customer wears same size in both Rain and Simpson and tell me they work great.
At the same time some say Rain works great but simpson does not work at all even when they half size up :(

I think PorDucMan summed it up quite nicely up there as well :)

Question for owners of Rain lasted shoes:

Do you find the sizing to be consistent with the AE 5 last? I always thought I was a 9D, but take an 8.5D in the 5. I just ordered a pair of Ellisons that are 7.5UK, going by my 5-last size.

They were listed as 7uk/8us. I typically wear an 8us or 7.5uk, and they fit very well. In fact, St C are the most comfortable shoes I own.

Agreed on St C comfort & fit. It seems that as long as you end up with 8 US all is good. Them being listed as a 7uk makes perfect sense

During my meeting with Carmina @ Pitti, Tony and Betty confirmed that the Rain is also avil in D (narrow width) just like Simpson!

Black cap toe in Rain! :slayer:
If I only had the money Steve...
Here is the last pair I bought from GF. They still look great since use has been really limited with interview season being all black shoes. When they arrived parts of the shoe were really splotchy in color for some reason, but a little saphir fixed that perfectly. Who knows what they do to shoes on international shipping...
Anyone else tempted to do a black rain cap toe MTO at some point?

Yes they have four different edge dressings; black, brown, cuero, natural.

What's your definition of beveled? Like a G&G fiddle waist or Bonafè suola a schiena d’asino? Then, no.

I guess I'll give my question an other shot.

I have Carmina shoes on the Rain-last in size UK7,5 and Simpson-last in size UK8. I've understood that Bexley's shoe trees are a good compromise for these lasts. My question is, what size should I opt for? Size UK7,5 is not available at Bexley. Should I purchase 2 shoe trees in size UK8 or both in size UK7?

Thanks in advance.

Never having paid any attention to the Rain it being wide (until now), I have no knowledge of the instep. Low/medium/high?

This is sweet news!
