I had about the same experience with the La Vera Sartoria Napoletano. They have address indicated on the website in Napoli. I put it in the navigator and went there. When I came to the place, it were suburbs of Napoli. Address was correct and locals confirmed its correctness. But noone ever heard of the La Vera. I checked several times and walked around. But failed to find it.

The locals had not heard of Carmina either - nor had the police. Everyone told me that I must mean CAMPER.

Just because fine goods are produced in a town does not mean that the townfolk are consumers or aware of such goods and the production of such.

Most people in NYC would not be able to tell you where Jay Kos or Bergdorf Goodman is located.

Unless you called and confirmed with a Carmina employee the address (and existence) of the factory, perhaps the factory doesn't exist where the Interwebz address indicated. Of course it is an entirely fair assumption that it should be there, but the fact that you had actually gone there and couldn't find it makes me think they gave some sort of incorrect address for whatever reason...and that's why the locals couldn't help you.

come on teddie. I confirmed the address at the Palma shop and I had my hotel resort call in my presence and confirm the location and the hours the factory would be open the same morning I went to search for it.

I don't know whether this is apropos or not (or even interesting) but I once ordered a big run of lasts from a company in Ontario. It was shipped west by freight to Vancouver. Where it was held for me at the shipper's office. I drove up there with the address in hand, and spent nearly and hour along the railroad tracks trying to find the office. No signs, no address numbers. Eventually I was directed to a narrow, unmarked staircase at the side of a decrepit wooden building--room for one person only and as thin as I am I had to nearly turn sideways to get up it--which led to my destination.

It might as well have been a hole in a big oak tree.

As for adding to the discussion on Carmina's merits I am afraid it is not possible asthere is none. It is clear this is simply a marketing exercise, in which you seem to be participating –either as a naïve bystander (which I doubt) or as a commercially interested party.

Seems to me like you're trying to present what amounts to 'opinion' as 'fact'.

Nothing wrong with taking a contrarian view to the majority; but don't you think 'opinion' remains 'opinion' however you spin it?

Gravity is an observable, measurable and repeatable phenomenon = fact.

A discussion on Carmina's merits is not possible as there are no merits = opinion.

Nuff said.

Carmina's are in size 7.5E.
Vass P2 I wear in 42 but will ry 41.5 in the future. C&J 337, 314, 224 in 8E. G&G TG73 in 8.5E (bought without trying on).
Alden in 8.5D (Barrie) 9D (Plaza).

Size 7.5 for Carmina?!?! I wear the same size as you do in C&J 337 and Alden Barrie + Plaza lasts. According to The Armoury's size chart, I should take an 8.5 in Carminas (.5 size conversion from US9)...
