By crude I mean that the Alaro penny's have a true apron toe like a moccasin. The join where the two pieces of leather looks a bit rough and ready,
I'd prefer something like the below which looks sleeker, similar to the C&J Sydney.

It might not be relevant, but if I recall correctly the Alaro last is a moccasin last. The upper is one piece of leather and then they glue a sole to the bottom. I agree it looks... very casual.

I would suggest avoiding the Uetam last if you are an extrawide in the Rain, they seem to be polar opposites in terms of fits as far as lasts go (Uetam/Simpson are long and slim, Rain is shorter and wider).

And, as someone with a moderately wide forefoot and moderately high instep, I can only just fit into the standard Rain. The EE rain is a good fit. If you are 9EE on the Rain, moving up another half size to fit the Uetam/Simpson will not work. Not only will it be too long, it will still be too narrow and too low in the instep. I have never really understood this compulsion to move up in length to get the right width. It is a fool's game. Get a size that fits you properly.

Carmina 732 on the Forest last. Starting to slowly develop a lovely patina.

What are the chances that we could get this thread re-named?? haha. I know I shouldn't be looking at this site at work, anyway, but if I do have it open I'd rather it not say anything having to do with p0rn at the top. Am I the only one?

My wife to be glanced at my phone the other day and asked why I was watching Appreciation when I received an email update about this thread.

Needless to say, she's still my wife to be...
