I had an order for CXL boots confirmed and received confirmation that they shipped, along with a tracking number, only to receive a subsequent email days later that there was an "inventory error" and my order had been cancelled.  Thought this was only an issue with the Alden seconds...  Pretty bad.

I've found it best to deal with Shoemart by phone. Models shown on their website are often out of stock. IIRC their Alden seconds don't even get posted on the web.

They don't get posted, but Shoemart sends an email occasionally with the available seconds if you ask to be put on the mailing list.

These have been on my wish list forever. Finally acquired:

Now I need to replace the one and only black shoe in my stable. I'm looking for something conservative for suit wear and the oddball formal event. I'm debating between these two:

Thanks!

if you are serious about having a need to wear the black shoes to formal events you should get the plain toe blucher. It will work well with suits and you can wear it with a tux. If you wear the cap toewith a tux you look like a guy who does not know the difference between business and semi-formal.

I would choose the whole cut as it looks formal and yet trendy too! But the cap toe would not be a bad choice too, just depends on which one u find would suit u better.

Are you recommending a plain toe blucher or the wholecut that he posted?

OK, that's where the confusion is. The whole cut is not a blucher/derby. Like Wurger says they are oxfords.

Yeah, neither of those is a blucher... Both have closed lacing ==oxford

I like the clean lines of the whole cut. I' am partial though...
