the shop carried several brands also a mto service in cooperation with cordwainer, another spanish manufacturer, who does a lot under special labels for boutiques etc. all of the shoes e.g. ludwig reiter, alt wien, c&j... had a better look and feel to me.

but my carmina experince is one of it's own and i'm very picky with shoes. there is a small boutique in vienna and they always have one shoe on display. it really peaked out to me - it was a carmina.

just my two cents.

hehe, i have nothing to do with the vass hype, though i wouldn't be bothered having participated in the commercial success.

actually, i'm following the brand since i saw a documentation on german tv in the eighties. the release of the book was another milestone.

i also have fond memories of a trip to budapest. needless to say, that we didn't buy shoes, but a lot of booze...

someday, i'll probably own a vass, but they are welted and i prefer holzgenagelt.

God I like the Block Member button!

And yes, it takes around 8 hours by ferry to get to Mallorca from Barcelona. It totally worth it, though (not only because Carmina). But there are plenty of daily flights between Barcelona and Palma, and I don't think they're expensive at all.

That is astronomical! Should cost around £28 (33 Euros roughly) maximum.

They are probably sending it by DHL/UPS in which case I would be hit by around 150-175 euros in customs and fees :(. Problem is Armoury doesnt stock the model I am interested in

problem is, they are using express carriers, who would charge this to an individual customer. needless to say, that they pay flat rate.

DOnt know about Alden, but one of the Alden retailers asked for 40 USD to ship to India and Brooks standard rate is 50 USD

 

edit : the Alden retailer was Blackbird and they were shipping with USPS Priority Intl

I paid 60 euro for shipping to Russia. They should have sent it by EMS, but it was delivered via standard mail.

False. Brooks has a flat rate of 50 USD and Alden retailers charge 40-60 USD for shipping usually.

Regarding the Carmina factory in Inca on Mallorca:

Several years ago, I rented a car and drove to Inca to try and find the Carmina factory. Supposedly it exists, but I could not find it, even using GPS and stopping and asking for directions/whereabouts/etc (even asked the local police to help me - they had never heard of the place). It does not have an actual address (strange, I know), and is supposedly located right off the highway near the Camper outlet. I found the Camper outlet, but Carmina's factory was no where in sight. I was also told they did not sell shoes at the factory (from the Palma shop manager).

If you have time, do try and find the Carmina factory - I couldn't.

I had about the same experience with the La Vera Sartoria Napoletano. They have address indicated on the website in Napoli. I put it in the navigator and went there. When I came to the place, it were suburbs of Napoli. Address was correct and locals confirmed its correctness. But noone ever heard of the La Vera. I checked several times and walked around. But failed to find it.
