Great Beans here. This guy opened up his own roasting brewing place in a post industrial downtown ghetto and it is thriving Might have to call to order...they also wholesale.

I don't know. "Fresh beans" is under 7 days old. If you are buying beans online chances are they aren't fresh by the time you get them anyway.

Also, supposedly beans that are already roasted at high altitudes such as being shipped by air does something to oxidation, which makes them lose flavor. I don't know if there is any truth behind it, but something to think about.

Meh, just try a bag, lemme know the result. (not to be flippant, but da beans are fresh. just don;t cheap out on the shipping!)

I was driving through LA today, and stopped by the Venice Beach Intelligentsia, and had the Black Cat. It was pulled on a Synesso, with what looked like a double basket, and ristretto. I can see why you don't like it --- it's a lighter style, that's a bit sweeter (actually, there was barely any bitterness), and very little acidity, and not much personality. I imagine it was intentional, as the barista made a tasting sample for himself first.
