That looks like an amazing transformation XKxRome0ox. I would surely go for P90X now.

Anyone tried out P90X2?

I never quite finished the 3rd month of p90x (breaking my hand really put the nail in that coffin) but I was thinking of bringing in some of the workouts again. I'm starting judo next week on mondays and wednesdays and I might sub in the non-cardio routines in between those.

Instead of doing that though...it might be fun to check out X2

I'm pretty happy with P90X. The P90X2 might be a little overkill. Remember, every business wants to make money and their "latest and greatest" might not necessarily add much value.

my advice - don't go 100% during your first week
you will not be able to do the workout everyday

i had a lot of warning from others before i started
so i really only gave about 50% intensity for the workouts during the first week, my goal being finishing the entire workout
from the 2nd week on, i started going 75% ... eventually giving 100%

I finished P90X during a period when I was unemployed after college but now I have a full-time job and have a hard time motivating myself to do even half workouts. What is everyone else doing post-P90x?

What does X2 supply that the original doesn't? I just saw a facebook ad for it and wasn't surprised to see Horton's mug again.

On the days I want to workout but don't want to spend an hour or more or don't feel like going to hard, I do Shaun T's Insanity. He has his regular workouts and max workouts. The regular can be done in 35-40 minutes while the max is closer to 50 minutes to an hour. The regular workouts are something I do to maintain some level of fitness and the max are for improving fitness.

How tough is Insanity compared to P90X (I guess use Plyometrics as the basis for comparison). Thanks.

P90X cardio workouts don't hold a candle to the Insanity workouts. Mostly it's the resting in between the moves. Tony rests quite a bit, ShawnT, not so much. In Asylum, he hardly rests at all.

Helpful. Thanks. I'm about 4 weeks from finishing P90x and have considered doing Insanity next. Just starting to get the hang of all the workouts and they are much easier than when I first started. Sounds like Insanity is ramped up and additional cardio is what I'm looking for.

My biggest issue with Insanity is that it's very light on the resistance exercises and you lose strength over the course of the 2 months.

I'd substitute the P90X cardio exercises with Insanity workouts over doing the Insanity program.

I agree. Usually I'll do the power, plyo, and cardio workouts 3 days and lift for 2 days to help prevent muscle loss with maybe 1 extra day to concentrate on sprints.

When people ask me which one is better P90x or Insanity, I always tell them it depends on what your goals are. If you're already muscular but want to trim down and increase cardio, then Insanity is better. If you want to build muscle and get into just overall better shape, then P90x would be better.

I agree with this.

First time through, your goal is simply to finish--you get used to finishing the workout and not quitting/giving up.

If there is a really hard exercise, just modify, do something else during that time.  Something is better than nothing or stopping or giving up.

I've done P90X consistently (3+ times a week) since September 2010 and I'm in the best shape of my life--by far.  Way better than when I used to lift w/ free weights in college.  I'm amazed at the muscle you can gain by just doing resistance exercises with body weight and bands.  Of course, I'm not trying to get HUGE, but just toned and cut.

After getting pretty bored w/ P90X, I moved on to P90X-2...but so far it's just modification of all the exercises I have seen before.  Which is fine, because that's sort of why P90X works--you do different exercises so your body doesn't adapt and you don't plateau.

Anyways, I think doing any sort of diet and exercising works if you continue it for 1 year+, but P90X just gives you the blueprint, which makes it easier.
