alright so it's blogs and friend's but more often that not it's blogs and magazines.

I wouldn't say that blogs influence my opinion in any way, but they certainly do open me up to new bands/albums that I wouldn't otherwise listen to. Same with forums.

I also do read up about bands on Wikipedia quite often to dig deeper into discog

The only way I "allow" blogs to influence my tastes in music is when I venture to the Hype Machine (http://hypem.com/). When it's not just 1 blogger's sole and often skewed opinion but instead going a bit more by the reaction of the masses, at least I can expect I'll listen to generally good music.

Listening to the weekly podcast of WBEZ's Sound Opinions show has definitely had an effect.

Beyond introducing me to things I haven't heard, I think the biggest effect has been hearing commentary from a pair of people from another generation who are still very much involved with current music. It brings a wealth of knowledge that isn't typically found in people my age or in many older people who have stopped keeping up with the times.

None. Nobody is ever going to 100% agree with my taste in music, so why not just play what I like? By the same token, when someone else has their iPod going for cocktails or whatever, I like hearing what they like, not what they think everyone is going to like.
