Why leaf blowers so dam loud?

We have communal janitorial service where I live and there's this one ahole leafblower that insists on going around my house for 45 minutes every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am every morning. I don't understand why a machine with such basic functioning can't be made quieter???

I recognize that this question was rhetorical, but it's an internal combustion engine connected via the crankcase to a powerful fan that forces air through a tube. Sort of like a gas-powered trombonist. The best way to make it quieter would be to replace the i/c engine with a hand-crank and expand the diameter of the tube, accepting that this could potentially impede function.

the great thing about leaf blowers is that they're heavier, noisier, smellier, and more expensive than a rake or a broom, but they do the same job just about as well!

I hate leafblowers and the people who use them.

Leafblowers, lawnmowers, and other loud implements shouldn't be in use before 9AM.
