I've used B.Nelson over the past few years whilst living in NYC - each time for screwed in toe taps, each time the work has been excellent.
Here added to the Marlow-the holy grail? For some yes....

This is perhaps a question I should send to @Nick V. directly, but does anyone know the highest stitch density B. Nelson can resole? Can B. Nelson resole shoes with 12 spi?

better ask him, and just be clear that is what you cared about (and then if you really do care send back to the original manufacturer)

Hi - had a question regarding B Nelson resoling of Edward Green (or similar level) shoes.

I tried searching and could not find the exact answer -

If I have a pair of re-soling done by B Nelson, does that mean Edward Green will refuse to refurbish them in the future?

I have not yet had to resole my EG shoes, but I understand that it is common for certain manufacturers to refuse to work on shoes that have been worked on by third parties.

However, I wondered if this was only done to filter out shoddy work. B Nelson is supposed to do very good work, so I was hoping if someone has had experience having Edward Green refurbish their shoes after having them resoled at B Nelson.

I think just to simplify the process, almost every manufacture just says no to outside work unless they have authorized it (CJ NY store would send some stuff to NY rather than back to UK).

If you absolutely must have EG resole your shoes in the future, the safest route is just to restrict any cobbler work to adding sole protectors (vibram or topy) and new heel toplifts. That should tide you over until you need to send them to EG in the UK. Anything that involves touching the welt (such as a half resole or a full resole) will generally negate a re-craft by the manufacturer.

Anyone know what's going on with him lately? I sent a pair to him about a month ago and I've tried to follow up on the status but I haven't heard from him since.
