I was less than impressed. perhaps I didn't ask correctly, or didn't notice the subtle changes they made.

I have no direct experience with B.Nelson, but looking at their website, it states that re-soling costs $90. There's a chance that might be out of date, and that they now charge $100, or quite possibly Dainite attracts an upcharge of $10 over regular soles - I don't know.

What I can also see on the website is that "refinishing" the upper costs an extra $25 - so even if the website's resoling cost of $90 is current, it would have cost you $115 in total to have the soles replaced and the upper refinished. Therefore, it doesn't sound as though you were overcharged.

Did you happen to actually ask the staff member at B.Nelson about the work when you picked up the shoes, or did you contact them afterwards to enquire about the pricing and the refinishing, or lack thereof? Or did you just decide to complain on an internet forum instead of actually speaking to the business directly to clear up any confusion before making a complaint??

Granted I have never walked in the v-cleat (I've been looking for a pair and refuse to buy a pair without it), but I have a pair of shoes with a double row of nails all the way around the heel that was very slippery before I learned to walk correctly.

It wasn't just a matter of slippery (I can deal with leather heels), but the nails jutted out past the leather, so they made a racket and, had I worn them on say, hardwood, would have destroyed floors.

I don't particularly care about the history when it gets in the way of me wearing my shoes. Practicality comes first, then preserving historical curiosity.

Just got my Billy Reid boots back from B. Nelson after repairing the lining and replacing heel counters, sockliner, and new heels. Great quality, the stitching looks good, especially around the heel that had to match the original stitches, and the uppers were refinished very very nicely. Pictures are here:

Hello Sir,
I sent you a PM on 9/7 offering to rectify the situation. Never heard back.
The offer still stands (within reason).

Just got my John Lobb Phillip IIs back from Nick and I couldn't be happier. Beautiful stitching, JR bevelled soles and leather/rubber composite heels with brass nails. Thanks Nick, you have a new customer for life!

If you are going to get a shoe resoled and you have lasted trees for them, would it makes sense to give the trees to the cobbler who is doing the resole to use during the operation?

Dropped of my C&J Drummonds this morning to get Topy'ed and to have a flush metal toe tap put on. Will be picking them up next week.

Was also going to pick up a some Woodlore Epic shoe trees for them, but they were out of my size. Decent price on them too I think compared to what I am seeing on the web.

Just picked up. The bevelled soles and channeling looks amazing. I love the vintagey look they get. Couldn't be happier.
