A link and another.

Are you guilty of gobbletygook or unnecessary latinization? I know from time to time I am. I think the call of one-upsmanship gets the best of my sometimes, but I've been trying to combat it as best I can.

Oh? you can rate your own threads? I didn't know... this changes everything! Anyway. Any views on the subject? I'm not nearly so dedicated to the cause as these guys, bit I've really started thinking about how I write.

I subscribe to Bryan Garners usage tip of day, and of course his book Modern Usage is a must. He is vigilant in the good fight.

I once heard a saying something like "he talks like a bar mitzva boy" suggesting that young jewish boys used very complex and unnecessarily sophisticated vocabulary. I recognized that that was the case with myself, and took to simplifying my language. on top of that - I spend at least half my time with people who speak English as a second (or third) language. I use very simple straightforward language and grammar.
