I don't like affectations. It looks good on Olddog because he is, well, old. It's the same reason I wouldn't advise a twenty year old kid to wear suits to class.

It is quite foppish, to me, and unsuitable for anything but weddings and special events.

Wouldn't it be more of a statement to hunt an animal and wear its head instead?

+1. I think it looks sweet, but I wouldn't wear it. It's just too much. Maybe as times change and everybody starts wearing suits again it will be just the thing to distinguish myself from the masses.

I prefer the orchid more, though I do agree it's on the large side. I think they lay better better than a lot of flowers, like the first one (a daisy?); as you can see in the first photo the face of the flower points up instead of forward.

I do not work in an office. I only "dress up" at social outings and business meetings. You would wear a boutonniere to a funeral? What kind of flower?

I think they can work, but you better have what it takes to pull it off. Otherwise it can quickly come across exactly as acridsheep describes.

A rose that's opened up is also good. They're easy to get in many different colors, too.

Pierre Trudeau always wore a flower in his lapel. It was his signature look...I always liked it.

I like the look on the OP. First definitely better than second. The boutonniere (sp?) has really been making a strong comeback. I don't think it is going to bloom (no pun intended) this summer, but probably by next year. That and lapel pins. Sort of a fun accessory in my opinion.
