Hmmm, well...back in the day Hermes scents weren't limited to their boutiques, and it's not out of the question that if your grandmother wore Guerlain, your grandfather would have Hermes. A good department store might easily have had both on the shelves. That said, scents of a time tend to smell similar so he could have worn any number of scents that were released at the time and smelled like Equipage.

You're welcome! Incidentally, I tried on a bit of old Aramis this morning and it was pretty close, particularly after 30-60 minutes.
