Can I pick some time in the future? Also, are we to assume we grew up in the era we chose, or are we transporting ourselves from our current lives to some other time (i.e., we won't know anyone when we get there/will have no place to live/etc. and will have memory of our current time).

Please chose a place and time in history that has already occurred. You are to assume you grew up in that era, and you can chose to be any race/social class you'd please.

Lulz. Because all societies, throughout all of history, have venerated white males? What year of the calendar is China in now? 5k and something?

Btw, I'd pick right now. Best time ever to be alive, IMO.

Good lord, why medieval Rome?

I'd pick ancient Rome.

'Course any era pre- antibiotics and x-rays is pretty scary.

For a white male, were the '50s as idyllic as Leave It to Beaver made them seem?

I would like to live in Athens during the Mycenaean era but then move to Sparta a few hundred years later during their hegemonic period

I always thought it would be interesting to live in some European or American cultural capital during the high modernist period of the 1920s.

I'm not so sure this is the best time to live. The threat of mass annihilation in the nuclear age places an almost inhuman psychological load on the individual. On the other hand, we do have modern, painless dentistry.
