I would love to live in Mayberry, 1950s, The Andy Griffith Show. I would spend my days fishing at "Myers Lake" and drinking moonshine

No, seriously, I'd want to be something like in the future in some sort of space program (xenobiology if it ever occurs, and it wont) or some other kind of explorer. Like 1960s, I could go for that if I got to be an astronaut. Hell, even the early 1700s would have been okay exploring North America.

Yes, horrible living conditions, but new stuff. Or a Physicist int he 1900s/1910s/1920s.

No way, I just can't get with those big-city types from Siler City.

I revise my original answer, I think it would be cool to live in Manhattan in the early 80s. Tragically, I was born 15 years too late and 10 miles too far East.

Supposedly Andy Griffith these days is a complete curmudgeon who lives a hermit's existence somewhere on the outer banks. He didn't even attend the opening of the Andy Griffith Museum in Mt. Airy. They did get the suit Goober wore, though, so it wasn't a complete wash.

As a french aristocrat from 1750 on..

Yes I would end up under the guillotine in old age, but it would have been a glorious 40 years..

Talleyrand used to say that people born after the french revolution had'nt lived, or seen true glory..

Being a roman senator during the republic would be nice as well, allthough like in the previous case I would probably be murdered before i could die of old age. I could live (and die ) with that...
