How much is a reasonable price for a nwt recent canali suit ? i found one on ebay for $700, it's a lot for a canali suit but i like the pattern and when i tried a canali suit at a store i really liked the fit, much more than brioni.. I know brioni is better on the construction, handwork but fit was not great for me... I hesitate to get this canali for $700, any advice ? I looked on the BS but couldn't find anything of the suit i am looking for.

That sounds high for an ebay item. I'd feel much better picking up a Canali in a brick & mortar shop on sale for that price. I agree, Canali has a really nice cut. Yes, it's not the same quality as Kiton/Brioni, but if you're not wearing it every few days you should be fine.

Cheers

In the real world, 700 for a recent canali suit that you like is a great deal.

I would guess they sometimes go lower on e-bay, though how often a recent one in a pattern you like goes lower may be a different story.

I find the comment about 'if you're not wearing it every couple of days' a little odd. Kiton/Brioni quality is about flat out luxury, not meeting the bare requirements for a workhorse suit. Unless I'm pretty confused about the world, a Canali is an excellent suit.

If you are wearing out your canali too fast, the solution is not to buy a Kiton instead, its to buy more suits.

$700 for a fully canvassed suit is a good deal regardless of brand. Canali make decent suits, I consider $700 to be quite reasonable. No need to compare Canali to Kiton, they occupy different points on the market and it is well understood you get what you pay for. Canali make a good suit for a good price, pure and simple. Spend your money in good conscience.

I can't say I have ever seen Canali for $700 but I am pretty sure their suits can be found for below 1k at a discount store or on sale. I think everyone is just saying that $700 is a good price.

I am also looking at a Canali jacket and was wondering about the word "Proposta". Does it signify a lower/higher end line for Canali or a style?

Proposta is geared for the younger clientele. Haven't felt much difference in quality but fabrics and cut are more daring etc. Only have one Proposta though.

$700 is a good price but there are deals on the B & S forum for lower. I wouldn't think twice about getting one at that price if its something you like.

There's a pythagorean theorem of sorts that relates the possibility of finding what you like, in the size you need, and at a "reasonable" price. The first is subject to whim and not entirely objectively measurable, but ignoring that... you've already achieved 1 and 2 (easily the most difficult of the 3), the last one is up to you and circumstance.

In other words; yes, it's reasonable to our wallets, but is it reasonable to yours? When it's love, that probably leads you back to #1...

Definitely yes.. It's very hard to find these kind of clothing on sale in Switzerland and full price is $1600.. i am building a wardrobe for work (banking) and i need suits. I recently purchased a solid navy Zegna for $550, that's why i was thinking that Canali is expensive (taking into account fees, it makes prices closer) but i think most people here think that Zegna is better than Canali, correct ?

If it's Z Zegna you're talking about, then no. We're quite spoiled on B&S, prices for Canali is @$400 or lower. Try asking $600 for it.
