American Apparel Wholesale Prices - Page 8

Thread Starter
Hey guys, sorry for never writing a response to some of you, I started a new, time-consuming job two weeks ago and have been busy keeping track of the home making and such.

I want to start taking orders again.
But no drop-off shipping is going to be possible anymore, meaning that from now on I have to increase the costs for shipping and set up a minimum for orders.
This is because I have to order all items to my apartment and take it to the post office for usps shipping method.

It all depends on demand. So let me know what you guys think.

No changes for international orders.

I'm in depending on what the new prices are.

I'm in, as long as the minimum order isn't too large. Maybe four or five items?

I'm in for sure... in a month or so when I can get my shit together.

I'm international, so the new "rules" don't apply to me.

Just so everyone knows, these "wholesale prices" are way off. I have a wholesale account and can verify that standard s/s jersey tees are only $5.25, whereas he's charging almost double that at $9. I know the guy's just trying to cut a profit, but at $8.50 shipping, that's a little ridiculous.

Yeah, umm, the 2001 colored shirts aren't $5.25. A little higher, but no matter.

You clearly haven't thought your post through though. Or at least, if you have an AA wholesale account, you actually haven't placed an order through them. I've placed hundreds. They charge you a minimum of about $8 or $9 shipping per order. Regardless of where it's being sent.

And then you have to factor in PayPal fees. And the fact that you're putting a lot on the line by offering this service (Mayo just got burned by AA for doing this, and the reason why I stopped doing orders here was the same reason. Although my accounts back up and I can do drop ships again).

It's already been discussed in this very thread that everyone's aware that these are prices above actual wholesale (which should be obvious), but lower than retail. If you're not happy with the idea that we're making a buck doing this, then by all means, go to American Apparel, and give them the extra $6 we're not charging you.

$5.25 for white 2001s, $5.75 for colored. Let's imagine someone orders five of these from you, which we can assume is a reasonable minimum. I was charged $7 shipping on my last order. So you sell these five shirts for $9 each, and charge $8.50 for shipping; that's $53.50 total. You paid $35.75. A cool $17.75 in profit for a single order, amounting to $3.55 profit per shirt.

Hypothetically, you could be charging a full $2 less and still make $1.55 profit per shirt. Of course, that figure is dependent on you placing the ridiculously small order of only five 2001 s/s jersey shirts, which for someone who's "placed hundreds" of orders through AA, is needless to say a bit impractical. So your base minimum profit is going to be around 27% profit per shirt you sell, likely quite a bit more for most orders.

While there's nothing wrong with skimming a larger-than-necessary profit from illegally exploiting a company's wholesale services, the fact that your first post in this thread plainly states "wholesale prices" followed by hugely inflated numbers is pretty sketchy, to say the least. My point being, there are thousands of individuals with wholesale accounts who could do the same, effectively flooding the market and washing out the return on your method, but for one reason or another choose not to.

Ethically speaking, if you're going to pull something like this, it's at least slightly redeeming not to lie to your customers. Just a thought.

This isn't my thread, first of all. When I did orders, the average order was 4 or 5 items. And I was charged an average of $10 for shipping, and then there is the paypal fees. And fees if you need to ship twice, etc, etc. That "$17" quickly becomes $7, or less. And I'm not going to get started with the international orders. Also, you're new here. You're trolling a thread by trying to start shit. I'd suggest you stop and just let it be.

you're probably not big on immigration, are you.

i had no intention of "trying to start shit," but rather of pointing it out. the shit has apparently existed long prior to my arrival. however, i do realize that perspective can appear threatening, and thus i will hereby leave you to your moderately illegal, ethically questionable pseudo-business. enjoy.
