Caring for leather

The leather jacket in question is 100% lambskin.

My friend told me not to wear it in the slightest bit of rain as that will cause spotting. He also told me that I should treat it with some sort of topical ointment...he did not suggest a specific product.

So I called the manufacturer and they said "typically we don't recommend any sort of treatment like waxes or oils....we just recommend you keep it hung on the hangar and in the bag provided."

Yesterday we had some rain here in the TC's, today is more of the same and Im noticing quite a few people wearing leather jackets, some faux, some real, some vintage and worn...

Now it should be pretty obvious that wearing leather in harsh conditions will decrease its longevity...but the real question is will there be spotting, will the leather be damaged beyond repair?

Lastly, if I should use a leather treatment for jackets what would you recommend?

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
