SOLD You may think an off-white suit will never be worn; that it's too much of a luxury purchase to justify. Let me tell you: every guy should own an off-white suit once in their lives. You'll only wear it a couple of times a year, but each will be an event you look forward to, and will remember after. So why am I selling? It doesn't fit as well as it used to. Better that someone else enjoys it instead, and I can put the money towards a new summer suit. 38S RL Purple Label off-white summer suit $700 $650 shipped worldwide with insurance/tracking
Style Details: - tagged 38S, has been tailored for a slimmer fit (see measurements below) - made in Italy by Saint Andrews - off-white/pale-cream - 100% tropical weight wool - 2 buttons - notch lapels - double rear vents - flap pockets, with ticket pocket - 4 sleeve buttons, but I got only the bottom 2 working. This is often done on Savile Row, to permit later alterations. What this means for you is that if your arms are longer than mine, your tailor can easily let down the sleeves from the bottom, and just remove one (or both) of the non-working buttons/buttonholes and then add a new working one (or two) below the current working ones, so there isn't an ugly gap between the end of the sleeve and the buttons! Clever boys, these tailors... - trousers are classically English, with double-forward pleats and side adjusters, and finished with 1.75" turn-ups (cuffs) - both jacket and trousers have a lightweight lining, to ensure the preservation of modesty and prevent darker items worn underneath from showing through Measurements: shoulder seam - shoulder seam: 18.25" chest circumference: 39.5" waist circumference: 36.5" length from base of collar: 29.5" crown-cuff sleeve length: 23.25 (+1.5" to let down if needed) trouser waist: 30" (+3.5" to let out if needed) trouser inside leg: 29" (+plenty of material in the turn ups) trouser leg opening circumference: 18" More pics (click to enlarge):
I take good care of my clothes, so as you would expect, it remains in good condition with no rips or tears. Full disclosure: it's impossible to keep an off-white suit in absolutely pristine condition. I'm very careful with my clothes, but still, there are a few scuff marks near the turn-ups of the trousers. The last photo above is a close-up of these marks. I haven't dry-cleaned the suit since last wearing, and I have no reason to believe these marks won't come out on cleaning. I've taken a bit off what I was going to ask for the suit, to allow for the costs of dry-cleaning. Otherwise, it is as great today as the day it was bought. I've worn it, I think, just five times since new. Retail when new would be the usual RLPL many thousands. UK buyers: contact me for a GBP price; it will be significantly lower due to no currency conversion fees, and more importantly, much cheaper postage. Q&A: jyoo - I'm also a 36S these days, which is why I need to sell this suit.
Grayland & woe - this suit is more garden party than disco party, I think! clee - I'm not sure which cut it is. Jared is printed on the St Andrews label, so I'm presuming that's the cut. I find it a little trimmer through the chest than some other RLPL, but in any case, I've had it tailored a bit, so check the measurements to be sure. RFX35 - thanks! segida - go on, blow your dough!
iand - anything I can do to persuade you to pull the trigger? zerostyle - the 29.5" from BOC is accurate; the interior tag pictured confirms it is a 38S. I haven't altered the length either way. I think all my RLPL 38S items measure to about the same.
