"The best things" thread made me curious. I haven't had children, but I do plan on having kids in my mid 30s. Do you guys have an ideal age?

I had kids when I was 32 and 34. Seems pretty good to me. We're financially stable but young enough to chase them around!

I know my mother was 24 when she had me, my father was 27. They were trying for six years too, so they were really young. I think it had a lot to do with education and such. My parents didn't go to college and getting married and having kids young seems like what people do when they don't get higher education. My mother says that she is thankful is some respect that she had me when she was young because she was more active and could play with me outside and such and if she had me later she wouldn't have had the desire or energy to put up with a child. On the other hand she thinks that if she had me later she would have raised me differently because she grew wiser and her outlook on life and such would have made her raise me differently. I think these are both valid points and have their positives and negatives. For what it is worth I am an only child as well. I like to say that my parents never had any more children because they got it right the first time.

24 for me. Had no money, no job even, when conception (uh oh) took place. Brought up my son on my own from the time he turned 4yrs. Best time of my life - not that now is bad - and the hardest too. FWIW for me it hasn't been about planning and getting it perfect. Stuff happens all the time ... good and bad ..and it's taken a long time for me to learn to find the positive no matter.

Both my parents were in their mid 40s when I came along. They had my oldest sister when in their early 20s.

I was 24 when RubeBabeI™ was born; RubeBabeIV™ didn't arrive until I was 41.
