In case anyone else is heading to NYC and would like some dining suggestions here is what we enjoyed over the last week:
Buvette- Grove St in the Village. Very small, mostly seating for two. Casual delicious food. Charming, romantic setting, everything you love about the Village.
The Little Owl- Bedford and Grove in the Village- we were headed back to Buvette and the cab let us off right in front of the Little Owl. A friend had mentioned it so we thought we would give it a try. Very small, charming, excellent food.
Tartinery- 209 Mulberry, the upstairs is a modern wine bar setting with a few tables. The downstairs is modern and a bit more roomy dining area. They serve French tapas. Get the duck. I will return.
For cocktails and food go further down Mulberry to Mulberry Project, a cool, downstairs place that prides itself on artisan cocktails. You tell them what flavors you like (fresh fruits, herbs, etc) and they will mix you a custom drink. Not a gimmick. They just seem to love making new tasty drinks. We had already eaten but the tapas menu looked good. Hard to imagine that this place exists in an area of red sauce tourist traps.
Gusto-The Village, was very good service. Took some very picky clients out for dinner and they loved it. Dessert was the only thing that wasn't that good.
