Telling people prices of your shoes - Page 7

I brag about how much I spent. If no one asks about it, I make a point of bringing it up.

It is one of my qualities that endears me to others.

I usually will just say well they sell for $______. They don't really need to know exactly what I paid but they can know the cost they would pay.

There is one, and only ever one, correct answer: "I don't recall how much they cost, but I'm glad you like them."

"Well actually that's none of your business, but I assure you, they certainly weren't cheap."

How many times have you actually watched American Psycho?

"do I ask you how much you spend on whores?"

Whoever asks you how much you spent on your shoes (besides your significant other) clearly has no class. Best to just give them a vague and deflecting answer, or what acidboy said.

I find this approach works best, especially if the person I'm conversing with hadn't even asked about my shoes.

good approach, i imagine it goes something like

civilian: hi

me: You see these shoes? You see these shoes? These shoes cost more than your car. I made $970,000 last year. How much you make?

civilian: wow those must be expensive shoes.. how much do they cost?

me: FUCK YOU, that's how much they cost!! You know why, Mister? 'Cause you drove a Hyundai to get here tonight, I drove a eighty thousand dollar BMW.

The correct answer is: They're worth more than your life.

$150 is the price of a pair of sneakers these days. Isn't it?

A-I-D-A. Attention, Interest, Decision, Action. Attention - Do I have you attention? Interest - Are you interested? I know you are, because it's fuck or walk. You close or you hit the bricks. Decision - Have you made your decision for Christ? And Action. A-I-D-A. Get out there - you got the prospects coming in. You think the came in to get out of the rain? A guy don't walk on the lot lest he wants to buy. They're sitting out there waiting to give you their money. Are you gonna take it? Are you man enough to take it?

This is a pretty interesting topic. I find it sort of fascinating how people react when you spend more than average on clothing. I've used to outright told people the price in the past but more recently I've just said "I can't remember". When I've told people the price of my clothes they usually make some comment like "oh, Mr. big shot" or something like that. Clothing seems to be the area where this happens the most, perhaps because there are such diversity in price scales and the average person considers spending real money on clothing to be self-absorbed. That said, it's a hobby of mine, and I don't see why I should be ashamed that it's what I choose to indulge in. I should note however, that I have gotten negative reactions when saying both unusually high prices and really low prices. If I'm wearing a nice suit and I say I found it in a thrift store for practically nothing, I usually still get a smart remark.
