Is ordering an Amareto on-the-rocks kinda strange?

I'm trying not to drink beer when I go out for happy hours, and trying to look for something "on the rocks" (that contains alcohol) that goes down smooth. I also like White Russians, Black Russians.

But how about ordering Amaretto on the rocks? Is this weird? I dunno, is Amaretto only meant to be mixed with something?

too sweet for me, but try a blended scotch witha splash of amaretto on the rocks. really good stuff...if i recall its called a Godfather.

Eventually, switch to single malt or good bourbon for sipping.

Have the bartender add a splash of bitters.

Who cares what it's meant for? If you order it and you like it, that's all ya really need.

Better than asking for Southern Comfort.

Shush. This is SF where you must have everything be forum-approved.

If you like it, why not? However, are you bound to get the odd look or two? Probably.

Are you just looking for something sweet?

Seems kind of ****, not that there's anything wrong with that

. Myself I would go for a whiskey & soda, or a Maker's Mark & ginger ale, or if in need of something sweeter, a rum & coke. Another bar favorite is a rum collins.

its a good tasting drink. Beats the hell out of a rum and coke and I hate ginger ale. the trick is just a splash of amaretto. too much and it tastes too sweet. just a small spalsh and its tops. Try it...

I like gin and ginger ale and I've actually had a bartender go "Ew" when I ordered it. Still do.

One time a guy at a bar was talking to me and offered to buy me a drink. When I told him to just give me whatever he was getting, I ended up with a bubblegum vodka and soda. Apparently it's his favourite drink. He was like 6'4 and had a shaved head and didn't seem to give a **** about what drink he likes. Did I judge him? Yes. Does he get laid more often than guys who drink scotch and bourbon? Probably.
