Good stores in Vancouver for modern, minimal streetwear? - Page 2

Actually it was 5 seconds, I limited the search to this forum. But anyway, that thread has lots of options and your problem is that it isn't specifically targeted to a vaguely-defined aesthetic that you happen to be looking for? What you're asking is essentially, "read my mind, figure out what I like, then tell me where I can find that stuff." Which is essentially pointless, particularly now that you've said you're looking for snow/skateboarding brands (?!)

Clearly I have made a big mistake thinking I could post on a STYLE FORUM and be able to discuss style!

By my own admission I have acknowledged that this might be difficult to articulate what I am after but I have given some examples. I also clearly did not say I am looking for snow/skateboarding brands and gave the reason why. I used them as an example of aesthetic (specifically snowboarding jackets).

My whole point in posting here was on the apparently misguided chance there was someone like minded. Fortunately a few of the more friendly people here have offered up some meaningful suggestions and I will go and check out.

Those brands are kind of boring. Basic summer/surfer stuff. How about Bench as an example: I don't like the actual brand (poorly made, logo far too huge at times) but this is kind of in line with the style. They kind of used helvetica font in cool ways, there are some interesting details in some pieces and it is generally kind of clothing people who were into graphic design or electronic music would wear but not that brand. Something less known, more boutique. I worked at a record store for several years and we always used to get some interesting clothing in from smaller places. I think I am going to have to hit google and find some brands to list as a starting point... I was kind of hoping there was a store "x" that was known in Vancouver for having really cool stuff with lesser known brands (maybe from UK/Europe) but I am not sure this exists.

if you're going to be ignorant then we can be condescending i thought you'd be far more educated about the forum, the members and the gear after 2 years of lurking

It is absurd to assume that because I posted on this forum two years ago (to ask about shirt lengths) that I have been lurking on these forums ever since.

Secondly I find it curious that you speak for some collective by saying "...WE can be condescending... ".
It really does come across as elitist and unwelcoming.

I thought style was about creativity, open mindedness and self-awareness. Having an elitist attitude where clothing is judged by the price tag, brand and store it is bought from does not equate style.
Instead it suggests severe insecurity.

tip 1: don't use the google search at the top. use the forum search and limit it to streetwear and denim tip 2: figure out what brands you like and see where they are sold in vancouver. Most bands websites have a "retailers" link. tip 3: stop with your rant, nobody cares

You're just not articulating what you want. This was a start:

OK, I've seen this brand before. I think I know where you're going...

I'm lost again. You like "interesting details" and "more boutique". I get absolutely nothing from this.

who said style isn't any of those things, but when you reference Euro-douche wear like Bench you clearly don't know what SF is about

if you want to wear branding pasted all over yourself you're in the wrong place. have you even looked at the affiliated stores here, do you have any idea what they carry? are you aware of the WAYWT thread or the quick questions for noobs thread

you want us to give you answers, we're trying to teach you how to get your own

White Mountaineering might be something you'd like, also go to seattle.

Why would you use Bench as an example for 'modern minimal' or whatever the hell it is you want? Using helvetica font in 'cool ways' on clothing isn't what typically comes to mind when you tag something as minimalistic.

And what does more boutique mean?

Ervell and APC make much more sense as something minimalistic.

Or you could spend 10 minutes looking around the damn forum. The problem is you have no idea what you're even looking for, and you expect others to read your mind + spoonfeed you information that's readily (and easily) available all over SF.
