I did a quick search and didn't find a thread on this one; but if there is one, please point me to it.

Does anyone have recommendation for glasses to wear to the gym? I wear glasses (don't wear contacts) and have always just worn my normal glasses to the gym and while biking, etc. But at this point, the glasses are too nice to get all sweaty and risk getting damaged (bike crash).

Does anyone have any recommendations for Rx glasses that don't look too much like cycling glasses? I really want to avoid those wrap around things, or the other extereme of the racquetball googles I wore when playing that. Something sort of stylish would be nice too, but that's not my first concern.

And I hate those Rx inserts that some sports glasses use. I'd prefer a normal Rx lens in the frames. I guess I'll take care of the need for sunglasses with Transitions lenses.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is Lasik an option?

I had Lasik and PRK done this winter due, in part, to my desire to not need glasses for the gym/sports.

Just get a cheap pair of glasses from http://zennioptical.com. That's what I did. I got a pair with high index lenses and anti-reflective coating for under 20 bucks. Get a strap to go around your head and keep them on if they are likely to fall off - I don't, but I just lift and run.

I'm just not willing to get laser surgery on my eyes. So, no, that's not an option.

This idea of just buying some cheap frames did cross my mind. I'll check out that website. thanks.

Once you buy from zenni you realize what a fricking ripoff getting glasses locally is. The markup has got to be insane. I got rimless glasses with the highest index glass I could find with anti-reflective coating for about 80 bucks - those are my standard glasses I wear every day and they are awesome - as good as anything you can get locally from lenscrafters or whatever.

i was going to recommend rec specs but i see you don't want those horace grant type of things. maybe they have other types. how about the flexible ones? swissflex? not sure if that's the exact name of the brand though. maybe something from oakley/ tag heuer i dunno. i had lasik about a decade or so ago.

Back in the day, Rec Specs were none for the total r-ball goggle look. nothing like a "normal" pair of glasses at all. I've checked them out since, and I'm not so offended now.

I kinda like these. They are botha little goodle-y looking, but I think they fall somewhere in the middle of goggles and wrap-around cycling glasses. (Can't get a direct link to post the photos.) But these are way more expensive than going the Zenni route.
