Pre-treating suede shoes?

Some recommend that you polish a pair of smooth leather shoes before you wear them. In preparation for autumn, I bought a pair of brown suede cap toes. I have the suede brush and the suede eraser. Is it wise to pre-treat the suede before I wear them? With what? I think in years past, I may have sprayed Scotch Guard on suede shoes. Bic

Get some suede spray, (which is more or less Scotchguard) and spray the shoes all over. When dry, lightly restore the nap with the brush. Thereafter remove dust with the brush and use the eraser only when you have a stain, but even then with a light touch. Once your shoe are well worn and look a bit tired, get colored suede spray to revive the color. Have a good time wearing your shoes.
