Problem as written 48÷2(9+3) = 2 on my trusty Casio FX85.
i be dumb
I suppose the answer to this math question is dialectical to that of religions. There is no right answer but clearly there is a wrong reply. In the scheme of thing, it is how one replies that determines whether which answer is "better". I'm just a member of the Know-nothing Party.

Its poorly written. The only reason there's any confusion is because its unclear whether the (9+3) is multiplying the 2 or the 48
I would have guessed 2
This is asinine.
if you multiply 2 with the 12 first, you will get 48/24 = 2

if you divide 48 by 2 first, you get 24*(1/12) = 2

+1. Just when I think people can't disappoint me any further. If 48÷2 was to be multiplied by (9+3), it would be be put into parentheses itself. 48÷(2((9+3))) = 2 (48÷2)(9+3) = 288 People who know better have created safeguards against this kind of confusion long ago. There is absolutely nothing novel or clever about this "problem". Here's a trickier problem: Produce a divided-by sign on your keyboard without copying and pasting.

This, of course, would be wrong.

Don't even need a calculator for this.

OP is the guy in red.
