You are so right about Societies. That game could be called the worst sequel ever. It totally destroyed the franchise. By the way is there going to be a SimCity5 ? If not are there any replacements ?

My point exactly. It would have made an awesome expansion not a completely new game like it was branded. But there was very little new in that game. I got bored and quit half way through. That was not the case with Fallout 3 ! Spent more than a 100 hours on that game.

Fallout 3 was great. New Vegas was an over-priced expansion! Both good games, though!

Still think the characters are lifeless (Deadpool is kind of cool) and I don't think the backgrounds are stylized enough, but... yeah. Will give it a second chance.

I'm not sure I agree that it was branded as a net new game- after all it wasn't fallout 4. Since I hadn't played fallout 1 or 2, I enjoyed NV as a way to experience a lot of the core fallout storyline that we didn't see in fallout 3 due to I being set in DC.

Wow I'll definitely give it to you that art style is a matter of taste but I really loved the stages in mvc3. I think the characters feeling lifeless is maybe a matter of combat being so normalized that all the characters possess a very similar set of core attacks. I actually went into it with low expectations and came out happy. I don't think it's balanced enough to be a long living tourney fighting game, but they may fix those imbalances.

The combat system in SF x Tekken looks like it might be for me. It has chain combos and a generally similar pace to SF4 with a bit more room for creativity. But I'm still happy with Super 4 and MvC3.

Treyarch is a complete mess. I hate every COD since 3, but even I can see the huge chasm in quality between the Treyarch and Infinity Ward games. The amazing thing is that they just continue to sell and sell.

I liked Black Ops (I'd give it an A- [for point of reference, I gave MW2 an A]), but the AI was fucking terrible! You'd shoot someone, a million times, and they just wouldn't die?! The zombie thing was cool, though, and I like the way they are adding humour to the game!

MW2 was what was really painful. Javelin glitch, OMA tubing, boosting, hacked games, and I'm sure a few I am forgetting.

Yep, the hype behind Black Ops was ridiculous, even after it was released and I realized it sucked.

The ff debate... 8 was a letdown after 6 and 7 but they couldn't keep it up forever. 8 was infinitely better than 13, which was terribad, and arguably better than 10 and 12, as well. FF8 was actually a really great FF, even with the lame weapon building system, until the reveal (ie we found out Laguna's running a country). The whole last 3rd of the game was retarded but up til then it was really good. One of the most memorable visual moments in FF history imo was during the battle between balamb and galbadia gardens when you run across a battlefield while an fmv sequence battle plays in the background. I thought as disappointments went, 13 was tops but 10 was bad too, largely because the plot and characters were poor (fuck Wakka, seriously?) and the voice acting was atrocious. 12 was so much better in that respect but just didn't go anywhere. I was expecting a lot more from X being the first one on the new PS2 but it didn't impress me at the time at all. I might replay it but I never actually finished xenosaga so perhaps I should revisit that... Except it would take up a ton of time, so I won't.

FF7. nerdboys hate me now. game was terrible and pretty much started the emo movement. there are so many bad ones to choose from. here are a few bad ones off the top of my head: any phantasy star after iv, ogre battle 64, master of orion 2, all might and magics after xeen the transition from "crap graphics" to "good graphics" ruins a lot of game series

Lol, emo? That is such a bad jibe, man—give it up! How about explaining why it's bad? I would listen. People who have no point to make just say dumb shit like that! FF7 was awesome. Great characters, great plot, great game-play. True, it is too linear, but wow, how great linear can be! I have to disagree about FF8 (I'm sorry). Yes, it carries across the same game systems, ideas, etc that all FF games do (that's why I gave it a low honourable mention), but aside from that, it is terrible! Really poor story-line/arch. No pacing at all, so you feel like why the fuck should you play it?! People have been really hard on 13. Imo, it's better than 8 by far! Yes, it was all about the graphics, but the plot and characters were good enough, even if they were a little flat. High honourable mention for me. It's just a shame there hasn't been a good (I'm not even asking for a great one!) FF since 7! :/
