good for nick i felt like there was an overlap in their service (or needless competition) between G&G site and BE. wish nothing but the best for Nick and am excited about the upcoming changes

After two pages of the quoted St James pics, I'm afraid I still cannot say there's a remarkable difference between old and new. I mean, yes - I can see specific changes, but none of them look significant to me. But some people are commenting that there's a huge difference

^^yeah I'm more than a bit concerned that this will mean no more sales from BE

I think this sample sale might become a staple for GG if they find themselves with too much old inventory. So while the typical BE yearly sale might disappear, it might be replaced by that.

Speaking of, this thread is going to blow up next week... :hide:

Aw man, i just don't know. If you're asking which is better, i'm at a draw here.

The TG73 is more striking, so if the model you are after needs that edge, this is a superior choice. The MH71 though is a masterpiece of a last, it is just sculpted so perfectly with great balance in the soft square toe. When in doubt, i would not think twice about using the MH71.

I am however looking forward to giving my first DG70 a try. As part of my 3 Arran order, i ordered each pair in one of those different lasts. It will be a good study to see how (with everything else being equal) the last choice truly affects the fit and look...

Re SJ2, I liked the old version better until seeing the new one IRL. It really is great looking.

yeah i understood the news to mean that nick will offer a far more personalize experience at the G&G site similar to BE, but under the G&G badge

The classic St James and Sinatra RTW last is TG73. I'd stick with the originals that made them famous. However, I may be biased because I have both in TG73. The sharp angular lasts go well with simpler designs imo as they are more striking and make up for the lack of details.

I'm very excited for the new G&G / BE merger...

I think it will bring a lot more access to rtw / mto...sounds like there will be much more stock available to the public now.

Bravo.

Yes, completely agree with this as well. I am hoping for some very creative collaborations.

Also, I am hoping with more access to rtw that I won't have to pay the very high MTO surcharge as often to get what I want / something in my size.

Yay for people who need wide widths.

what about us narrow width guys? I could use a chance too, because there probably aren't any others here on SF looking at this level brand. I only know a few "narrow" guys but they like their AE.
