That's a shoe orgy there.
I luvz my Alden whiskey LWB.
Kinda heavy on the light colors? No?
Not that I don't really like light colored shell.
Do you already have the AS shell shoes in hand or are they on order? I am very impressed with the one pair of AS Exclusives that I own - would be very interested in seeing how well they work in shell.
And lastly - you indeed will not NEED any more shell shoes for more than a decade. But in my experience need has little to do with it.

For my Alden, I try to only have 1 shoe and 1 boot per shell color (my way of limiting the damage).

Lots of whiskey but I have a fair amount of darker shell and calf shoes. The AS shoes/boots are on order. I am also very impressed with the quality and might not return to C&J Benchgrade (although I might pick up a pair of black Drummond). I will post pics once I receive them but from the AS whiskey shell MTO I have seen so far, they are pretty wicked.

Oh, and I do my fair share of rationalization to ease the conflict. :embar: Funny, the better half shares the same sentiment.

Gotcha.

Waiting anxiously to see those AS shells!

Neither appear large enough for your foot in the instep. As you should be able to tighten them such that the facing comes together.

Compared TG73 and MH71 in Sweeden today...

I like the TG73 better because they appear to be softer square whereas the MH71 is more chiseled. Nice to hear there are more retailers carrying them. I was pleasantly surprised they have G&G at Barney's; unfortunately, the smallest size they carry is 8 and I need a 7. :(

Unless they come closer when tightened, I agree with Gdot's comment.

IMO, the left pair of two-tone shoes (MH71) is soft square. TG73 is pretty sharp and chiseled...

Nice development @ Barneys, adding Lobb and now G&G.

I like the shape of the MH71, but don't like the two tone or the design.

That's was exacly mine concern, finally I decided to pass. I was able to tighten them but not too much.
Unfortunately balmorals from EG and G&G are not for me. Even width "F" is not wide enough, see how Wingmore in "E" looks like:

Whats the deal with the two tone ones?
12900 sweeden krones wich is 1865 usd. This is an MTO pair of Kent with croco instead of suede, UK9,5F.

it is a metal toe tap that lies flat with the leather sole, not placed on top of it. looks nicer, and is more comfortable to walk on. :)

no difference son. been there, done that and that, many times. it's nice to have, though.

Go to the Sir Max in Amsterdam, they are not only re-crafting the shoes, but also can intall the metal toe-tips, unfortunately needs 2-3 days for this, so I didn't install it on my shoes.

i presume this is the waiting time for a repair order. it takes a skilled cobbler approx. fifteen minutes to do it. logigal?

There are actually 2 Stores in Sweden with G&G - one in Stockholm, another in Upsala. I've been in Upsala store.
